We recorded the hugely talented Yasmeen Ansari-Roberts here at Offbeat, voicing several characters for The Lord of the Rings Online — the long-running massively multiplayer game based on Tolkien’s world. Developed by Standing Stone Games, it continues to attract a global community of players exploring Middle-earth nearly two decades after its launch.

It was a real pleasure working with Yasmeen while she was in the UK — a versatile and expressive voice actor who brought real depth and authenticity to each role.

Colin Maclachlan - Pilgrim / SAS Who Dares Wins

We’re very pleased to highlight the latest collaboration with Colin MacLachlan through Bonnier Books. a man whose life story goes way beyond words on a page.

You might recognise him from the Channel 4 series SAS: Who Dares Wins, where his Special Forces background became real-time training ground for those daring enough to test themselves. As someone who passed SAS selection at 23 and led high-risk missions, Colin brings a rare authenticity and calm under pressure.

At Offbeat, with Olivia Caw directing and Iain McKinna producing and Marina Stavropoulou as executive producer, we captured that authenticity, honing in on the raw edges of his voice, the tension and release of his journey, from mountain troop deployments to hostage rescue, and on to writing and public speaking.

One of the great things about this job is meeting and getting to know remarkable people in between the recording sessions too, and Colin was the real deal.

Lady Grace’s Mysteries

Just finished recording ADR film dubbing for the entire series of 10 episodes with a forthcoming BBC series called Lady Grace’s Mysteries with stunning young actor Rafael Alessandro.

Dubbing producer Helena dialled in to direct on Zoom from Belgium with another director called Louise Ni Fhiannachta from Ireland with Rafael in the studio.

Intense session and despite doing a fair amount of ADR now, it was the session I think I did best so far. It’s pretty full on recording, calling out multiple takes and hosting on Zoom at the same time and always a relief when all goes well as lots of things can go wrong.

The series, which has already been commissioned for a second series, will be released on multiple broadcasting platforms around the world.

37 MILLION HITS!!!

On YouTube, for ‘Last Of The Mohicans’ since the release of Spirit of the Glen by The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards featuring Pipe Major Ross Munro.

After being approached by Universal Records following a recommendation by Mani Shoniwa, I took them to Heartbeat Studios where the trilogy of albums was recorded by me and the Heartbeat team.

The first album spent 14 weeks at no1 in the Classical Charts. The second album Journey won a Classical Brit Award for best album. It was produced by multi-award winning chart topping producer Jon Cohen.

The Last of the Mohicans is my favourite track on the album. The awesome Czech Film Orchestra recorded the string parts for the first album in Prague.

Ross and I went on to produce his solo album Twisted Traditions for Greentrax Records.

VIRGIN RIVER with Zibby Allen / Netflix

Just finished intense ADR recordings for 4 Episodes of Virgin River for Netflix with actor Zibby Allen (Grays Anatomy / The Twilight Zone.

We also recorded ADR pickups for Pacific Films from BC in Canada for a movie called ‘Pickleford Christmas’.

Zibby was fun to work with in person and so was award winning producer Gord Hillier directing down the line from Vancouver who taught me some valuable ADR tricks. Everyday IS a schoolday!!

Our new booth in Studio 2 worked a treat. It was only the 3rd pro session we’ve done since opening. Great for artists to record in a soundproofed room with natural light and incredible rooftop views over the city.

Brilliant night at the Premiere of Reality Is Not Enough which closed the Edinburgh Film Festival last night.

Recording Irvine Welsh, Olivia Caw and Mark Hannah’s commentary for the film under the direction of Paul Sng was an awesome experience.

Recording another episode of Uncanny for BBC Sounds with Producer Danny Robins.

In this episode, sceptic Alasdair Beckett-King goes head to head with paranormalist Evelyn Hollow in a programme about a haunted house in the North East of England.

Alasdair, who runs a highly popular podcast called Mysteries and has a standup show in the Fringe, makes his debut in this fascinating episode about Goth Ghosts in Newcastle.

Kristen’s ADR credits include S*x and the City and Pixar’s Ice Age. She’s here from Manhattan for her Edinburgh Festival Fringe show and ran her own ADR session at Offbeat using her own gear.
