Committee applications are now open!

Applications to join the Insight Team are now open— this is an incredible opportunity to combine your academic interests with journalistic and creative skills!

We are looking for enthusiastic students to fill the following roles:

📑 EDITORIAL COMMITTEE
Economics students, both single and joint honours, who will work with writers, edit articles and shape the direction of publication.

🖼️ PRODUCTION TEAM
Students from all Schools are welcome to apply! Responsible for designing the magazines and social media accounts.

Insight’s Spring 2025 issue, ‘Blue Skies Ahead’ is out now!

Our winner for the Insight Writing Prize is Gabriel Pais Gaspar for the article ‘From Crisis to Growth: A Case Study of the PIIGS Post Eurozone Crisis, a Lesson for Northern Europe?’ and the runner-up is Logan McKinnon for the article ‘Pricing Behind the Glass’. Additionally, the winner for our cover competition is Edan Webb with the spectacular photograph! Congratulations to all the winners 🎉🩵

Copies can be found at the ground floor of the main library, the new econhub at South College Street, and 30 Buccleuch Place.

⚠️ OPEN TO ALL UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH STUDENTS

Insight Magazine is on the hunt for an eye-catching cover design for our upcoming ‘Blue Skies Ahead’ issue. 🌤️🩵 Better yet, this is our 15th Anniversary, hence we strongly encourage submissions that reflect Edinburgh’s charm!

Submissions can be either in the form of art pieces or photography. All submissions have the chance to be featured in our magazine, and the winner will be showcased on the cover with a £70 prize.

Make sure your submission is in A4 portrait and submit by Friday, 28th February. Let your creativity lead the way!

We’re thrilled to announce the theme for Insight’s 30th issue: ‘Blue Skies Ahead’!

This uplifting theme embodies optimism, growth, and new possibilities— perfectly aligning with our celebration of 15 incredible years of Insight!

Congratulations to Michelle Yu who received the Insight Prize for an excellent article entitled 'Time to pay up! The Uneven Geography of the Climate Crisis' and to Kamal Sharma who received the Runner-up Prize for a wonderful piece entitled 'The Leaf Effect on Climate Change: An ESG-Based Approach.'
