Submissions are now closed! Big thank you to everyone that's submitted something for this last issue of The Inkwell and we can't wait to start looking through all you're amazing work!

28/02/2017

Just a reminder that submissions for the last Inkwell of this academic year close tomorrow, 5pm! The theme is 'Sleeplessness', so if anyone has anything they'd like to share, please do send us your pieces :)

Though there is a deadline simply to accommodate the volume of writing we need to read through, it is not strictly the case with artwork, so please do send us anything in the next couple of weeks before we start putting the magazine together, we'd love to see your work!!

Hello hello you lovely bunch! Submissions are now open for the last Inkwell of this academic year! So be sure to send us your poetry, prose, drama and artwork (need that special piece for the front cover too!) for a chance to be featured :) This issue's theme is 'Sleeplessness', which can be interpreted in any way you wish: politically, personally, literally.

Submissions close 5pm 1st of March (unfortunately anything submitted later than that will not be considered due to the volume of work we have to read and consider.)

Drama: [email protected]

Happy writing!

who am i to say no war
or i

who am i to governmental arms contracts
or i
or i

yes we have known nausea of system

we have seen bombs scream in syria
hearing only rail work and rain

brothers and sisters

let us trust to a delicate use of the plural pronoun
who is the we at war?

i am at a concert
i am on a beach
i am in a bar
i am chopping vegetables

i am vulnerable in my duvet

we are not pretending to be strong or soldiers
nor will we
nor will we kill

i am not tough
not strong
not hard

we will yielding lead
we walk with naked breasts through the metropolis
we pay tribute to the gentle brave

i love a man before a tank

i love the tending to the wounds of the would-be enemy

i love the subsiding
of the playground retribution
of the out of bounds
of nation
