This morning I visited the 402nd Oxford St Giles Fair and I’m so glad I went when it opened as it was very quiet compared to when it’s rammed when I normally go after work

As we always say a big funfair like this has 2 sides to it, quiet when it opens during the day and busy during the night when all the lights are in full swing and had a amazing atmosphere

This is the first time I have managed to get there when it opened and it was strange seeing it so quiet, however it was much better for filming content, taking pictures and walk on rides with longer cycles

Oxford St Giles Fair 2026 is on for 2 days (not the 1 day I thought it was lol) so it’s on the 7th - 8th September and open from 11am - 11pm and has a ton of rides and attractions and plenty of places to get food

I drove past a funfair the other day which is located in Flackwell Heath while picking our dog up from her daycare and spotted 2 coasters

Yes it’s a kids fair and yes they are kids coasters but as we say “creds a cred” big or small it shouldn’t matter what type of coaster it is

The fair is on till the 31st August 2026 and has 2 coasters, Dodgems, giant inflatables and a handful of juvenile rides !!! The fair is run by Arthur Smith

I had a great day at Alton Towers even though it was very busy as expected with it being the summer holidays however I still managed to get on what I wanted

This is the first time in many years I’ve managed to get to the park in the peak season, and with it being busy it gives the park a great vibe and atmosphere

With so many rides having huge wait times I ended up getting a few fast tracks at £15 each for my favourites including Nemesis Reborn and Wicker Man the UK’s best wooden coaster

For the next couple of weeks the park is running a couple of extras including Minecraft: Meet The Mobs, Cargo Global Eats and the Alton Towers Exhibition which is located inside the Towers Chapel

It was also great to get back on the Monorail which had the god awful vinyls covering the windows removed and the riding the Sky Ride for the first time in many years

Such a sad day for enthusiasts around the world and the theme park industry as 2 massive world class coasters will close today (02/08/2026) and their future is currently uncertain

Over at Fun Spot America in Atlanta the massive 3yr old ArieForce One built by RMC will close along with the whole entire park, sad thing is I really want to go and ride it but I just couldn’t part with the money right now

Along with that the world famous Kumba over at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will also close today, this massive B&M coaster opened in 1993 and I remember riding it in 1994 during my first family visit to Florida when I was just 15yrs old

Kumba has that famous view from the bridge of the interlocking corkscrews which is so iconic and photogenic, Kumba was also my first ever “big” inverting coaster just after riding Python and Scorpion in the same park

So fingers crossed Kumba is either fully retracked or replaced with something which is just as good or better and that ArieForce One will be saved and bought by another park so for us who missed out get the chance to ride it in the future

I recently visited Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park which I hadn’t been to in over 7yrs due to a number of reasons with the main one being the previous owners ripping the heart and soul out of the park

Lightwater Valley is located just outside of the beautiful town of Ripon in North Yorkshire and when you haven’t been in many years you forget how massive and beautifully landscaped the park actually is

The main reason was to get on Spinning Racer which is a fantastic spinning coaster and a great addition to the park but it still kinda feels out of place plonked at the back of a field

The park still looks tired and baron in places with a few attractions and food outlets being closed, I know Mellors want to make this park great but it’s gonna take huge investments and risks over many years to get it where they want it

It was a fun day with friends but I felt so out of place filming in a park that was 90% young families, also the majority of the rides were a walk on which was kinda strange as it wasn’t exactly a quite day

It’s a cheap day out for families and I would highly recommend it but it’s definitely not for the thrill seekers with Spinning Racer being the only thrill ride here, it’s beautiful park but just needs more to fill a full day out

We had an action packed weekend for my 47th birthday as we spent it down in the famous fishing town of Hastings on the south coast of England

We stayed at the Guestling Hall Hotel which we enjoyed however this hotel needs some major renovation and upgrades, with the right investment it would make a stunning Boutique hotel

It was the cosy attic room that sold it for us also it was the last room available so we didn’t have much of a choice lol, the managers we spoke to were lovely and make us feel at home, we would definitely stay again

So the main reasons to visit Hastings was to get on the East Hill Lift which is the UK’s steepest Funicular Railway at 75° and to get another Caterpillar coaster cred at Flamingo Park Hastings, their retro Ghost Train is a must

We also went on the Miniature Railway, had cake and coffee at Sully’s Cafe, saw some amazing vintage Scooters which bizarrely made me emotional seeing them all ride off into the distance and we went into the slots

After all that a good friend of mine told me about Monty Hammond & Sons Funfairs which was on at the Oval in Hastings so we popped there for a couple of hours, this fair has some very unique rides including the awesome Ali Baba

I have had some comments recently on whether or not I should be using AI generated thumbnails for my YouTube videos, some people like them, some people hate them and some people just couldn’t care less lol

AI tools have recently been used to make new park logos and they just look cheap and unprofessional, also park logos are actually guarded by copyright and trademark laws so you are not supposed to use them in your thumbnails

At the end of the day the ones I have used have included pictures that I have taken myself it’s just been tweaked a little using ChatGPT to make the thumbnails pop and gain more interaction, it is also quicker and easier to make them this way

I have seen a little increase in views on my recent videos which is great news, the amount of spam emails I get from people wanting to charge for making YouTube thumbnails is ridiculous which would be AI generated anyway

At the end of the day it’s not the thumbnail that makes the video, it’s the person who’s made it that counts and that’s all that matters, thumbnails should be eye catching and show the viewer of what to expect

What’s your thoughts on this and which do you prefer !? Ones I’ve made myself or the ones that took no effort at all lol !?

A day off camera today as we visited Ruislip Lido which is one of London’s hidden gems especially for the amazing Ruislip Lido Railway

This miniature railway has to be one of the best in the UK, it’s also only £5 per person for a return trip and all run by volunteers who all do a fantastic job, dogs are also welcome aboard

The rest of the area was busy as expected on a warm summers day plus it’s a relatively cheap day out for most people, there’s loads to do for the whole family including a beach

At the end we stopped off at Stonehouse’s The Water’s Edge pub which was yummy as always, I had a banging Scampi and Chips and a scrummy Chocolate Fudge Cake to finish it off

We had a fantastic evening enjoying Horton's Steam Fair located at Pedestal Field in West Wycombe which is just 5mins drive away from where we used to live in Wheeler End

I love a vintage funfair and as some of you know I followed Carters Steam Fair for such a long time, I even did a shift for them when they were last at this location

Hortons owns some of Carters old rides including the incredible Lighting Skid which is one of the best traveling rides in the UK, they also have their brilliant Dodgems

We also enjoyed the free fireworks display, some yummy fair food and amazing Donuts at the end, also great seeing some friends and staff who work there including the lovely Wayne

If you would like to visit one of Hortons fairs them please visit their website for more information with dates, times and prices

So is Aviktas the brand NEW Intamin Giant Gyro Swing at Pleasure Beach Resort the UK’s best ride full stop as some people are saying …..NO, is it the UK’s best flat ride in a theme/amusement park…..I would say YES

I could only manage 2 rides on Aviktas during my visit as I started to feel sick lol, however I could sit on Icon all day long, some flat rides are just not for me however it fits the park so well and it’s a proper crowd pleaser for people watching off ride

The rest of our day was awesome with great weather and a great atmosphere around the park really made it, we also visited during one of their Doggie Sundays so I didn’t have to go on my own

When entering the park Aviktas was on a 60min wait and because I didn’t want Lisa and Tilly sitting around in the sun waiting for me all day I got myself the VIP Speedy Pass at £55 and it was a god send but was it worth it !? I got on 12 rides all day

Even tho Aviktas was on a 40-60min wait all day most of the other rides had very short lines throughout the day, it was also great seeing most of the coasters on 2-3 train operations even Infusion was back on 2 trains

After a fun day at the park we then checked into the Blackpool FC Stadium Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals and for just £63 a night (not including breakfast and £10 for parking) it was a bargain and would definitely stay here again in the future, you can even book rooms with a pitch view

We then spent the rest of the evening walking around Blackpool and WOW what an experience that was lol, yeah the chips from Palmer Cafe and the Donuts later on were amazing but the rest of it was an eye opener, interesting people and the smell of w**d everywhere
