Our Story

The Cuillin Collective was founded as Say it with Film Media Productions in 2005 by Marc Smith. In 2009, Marc and his then partner, Ailsa decided to change the name of the business to The Cuillin Collective. Both Marc and Ailsa have been involved in various creative and media-related activities for over 10 years. This involvement was always with a view to setting up their own business combining both of their talents to offer clients the best products and service possible. After some time working together and honing in on what their business model was, The Cuillin Collective became a reality in 2009 and slowly but surely The Cuillin Collective has been built to what it is today. In May 2011 Marc & Ailsa married and finally made their dream move to Elgol on The Isle of Skye the weekend of our wedding. The Cuillin in Cuillin Collective comes from the breathtaking range of mountains that surround their house - before they had even made Skye our home, they had stated their love for the area in their business name. The Collective part comes from our desire to involve other creatives around us to ensure that we can offer every single service we do. Marc's various web and video production experiences make him the perfect man to be in charge of all web and video at The Cuillin Collective. Marc works all day day and sometimes even nights to make sure that he produces the best quality product, no matter what it is. Ailsa is in charge of design and illustration at The Cuillin Collective: illustrating explainer videos, designing logos, book illustrations and eye-catching web sites.
