I have grown up watching David Attenborough's nature documentaries. And it has been his enthusiasm and love of the natural world that inspired me and helped me grow my love for it too. My work is predominantely inspired by nature whether its plants, flora and fauna or any of our amazing animals on our beautiful planet.

I've been doing this....training in horticulture for the past year or so 🌿🌷🪱.

I wanted a way to support my art practise that didn't mean putting all the pressure on my art to pay bills. Whether this is the answer.... I don't know. But I knew I had to try it.

I put my art making on hold for a year because I was working for garden clients and training at the same time, which meant 5 - 6 days a week at times. I was knackered! Sleeping more and napping lots.

But slowly my body got used to it, and I completed year 1 of my training

This is only the first step, and I will reveal more soon. But I'm excited and inspired by it all. My phone is full of plant pics and garden book inspo. I've been doodling garden plans on scraps of paper and coming up with planting ideas for clients.

I found this image hanging around on my phone. It's the newer repackaged edition of the 'I Know An Artist' book I illustrated.

I love this cover, I didn't design it but / used a background from one of the portraits for it. Love the colours and the vibe. It's also a smaller version of the original book.

It was being sold in but a quick search shows Amazon still has a few copies, and also second hand copies available.

I always need this reminder 🖤. Hard times are going on around the world and sometimes I feel completely useless in being able to do anything.... and exhausted in the business of my own life trying to move through day to day.

Just sharing joy and hope may seem small, but I believe it has far more power than we realise. It spreads from person to person and maybe one day it will take over the world. Imagine a world of joy and hope instead of hopelessness and hate.
