Celebrations are in full swing at Guildhall Shopping Centre for their golden anniversary!

We've already seen massive pop tributes to Madonna Olly Murs and Kylie, with loads more to come.

Sadly, the RAF Red Arrows will not be putting on their full display at today’s Sidmouth Regatta due to operational constraints.

Instead, they will make three flypasts over the event…

With poor weather into the bank holiday weekend, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team will be doing all it can to get to planned events and displays.

However, due to forecasted conditions, and operational constraints impacting which airfields the Red Arrows will be able to use in the coming days, there will be changes to these scheduled performances:

🔴 Cancellation of the RAF Wyton Families’ Day display this afternoon (Thursday).

⚪️ Introducing a new flypast for Lyme Regis at 1835 tomorrow (Friday).

🔵 Switching the planned Sidmouth Regatta and Airshow display to a flypast – now scheduled for 1840 tomorrow (Friday).

These operational constraints are impacting where the team can base its aircraft this week. As a result, the Red Arrows can’t use the original, planned airfield closer to Sidmouth. This has reduced how long the jets can be in-the-air performing above Sidmouth as they are more range-limited, coming from further away.

However, the team has been determined to make an appearance at both Sidmouth and Lyme Regis and to ensure people can still see the team, even if more briefly, tomorrow.

At this stage, displays in Clacton and Southport are unaffected but airshow crowds should continue to monitor official event and team social media pages.

Dolly Parton has died aged 80.

The country music legend, songwriter, actress and philanthropist passed away today, with her family confirming the sad news.

From Jolene and 9 to 5 to I Will Always Love You, Dolly gave us a lifetime of unforgettable music - and her warmth, humour and generosity made her a true icon.

Thank you for the music, Dolly. ❤️

🔥 Wildfire near the Tamar Bridge – please take extra care

We are aware of a significant wildfire in the vicinity of the Tamar Bridge and are continually monitoring the visibility levels caused by the resulting smoke.

Our teams are assessing conditions to ensure it remains safe for vehicles to continue crossing. If visibility levels change, we will provide further updates.
In the meantime, please:

🚗 Do not be distracted by the fire – keep your attention on the road and do not attempt to take photographs or videos while driving.

⚠️ Take extra care when approaching the toll plaza. Our staff are walking around the area as we monitor the situation, so please slow down and follow any instructions from our team.

💨 If you encounter smoke, reduce your speed and increase your following distance. Keep windows closed if smoke is affecting the road. Be prepared for reduced visibility and avoid sudden manoeuvres.

🚨 Please follow the instructions of emergency services and do not stop on the bridge or approach the area to watch the fire.
