To slightly paraphrase the words of the Hot Chocolate song.
So, where to begin readers... it began with an E-Mail, being a radio presenter had been on my ‘wish list’ of things to do for quite a while and I thought I would give this radio presenting lark a bash, so in the email I stated the same and if not, I can make a rather good tea or coffee.
I got a reply back from a marvellous gentleman called David Treharne (he has a splendid show called ‘Edge of Jazz’, and he’s a Dr), saying ‘thanks for the enquiry and you should hear from someone shortly’, and I did...
I soon then got an E-Mail from Helen Connole who is an awesome lady with more than a passing resemblance to a younger Carol Decker (she also does the splendid shows ‘The 80s Time Machine’ 5-3-1-2-4,’ Two K***s & An Oscillator’ and ‘Tech Monthly’).
Helen replied, ‘do you want to sit in on a show, see how it works’, do I want to sit in, DO I WANT TO SIT IN, HELL YEAH!
So, I sat in with the legendary ‘Maysie Bug’ (who is also a great presenter and human being), and watched and listened... and some more watching and more listening...
After a bit, Helen asked both Maysie and myself to co-host together this months ‘Two K***s & An Oscillator’ show, so, I was like equal parts ‘oh my ...’ and ‘hell yeah, let’s do this!’, there was never any question of the ‘oh my...’ winning, I was PUMPED!
The rest as they say (who exactly are ‘they’?) - for that show - is history with audio evidence.
Around that time, I get another contact from the wonderful Helen asking, ‘you know you were after a late slot, well we have one just come up, do you want it?’, do I want it, DO I WANT IT!...
It’s a fantastic journey and I can’t thank Helen Connole, Dr David Treharne and Maysie Bug enough. THANK YOU!
