Our August issue is dropping through letterboxes across Devon – featuring ancient exploration, accessible adventures, afternoon tea and a whole lot more! 🍰🔎🤩

August is for everyone – not just the children on school holidays – with a particular focus in the mag on accessibility Dartmoor Outdoor Festival begins this month from 29th August to 5th September featuring a Miles Without Stiles walk plus a further five accessible walks over the course of the week run by the Wheeled Access Group.

Our own One Mag walk this month explores Woodbury Castle, where recent improvements to car parks and signage have made access easier, and an estuary viewpoint is accessible for 🧑🏻‍🦽‍➡️ users along a gravel track. Dubbed ‘Devon’s Serengeti’ by our very own Jake, this walk is a must for everyone.

We are fully onboard with National Afternoon Tea week from 11th – 17th August 🫖 so it’s no surprise our foodie feature highlights five of the finest places to take part in this great British tradition locally. Dietary requirements? Look no further. Unique vegan and gluten-free versions of the much loved classic are available to make sure no-one goes without. Find out where, in our August issue!

Turn outdoor spaces where you live, learn, work or play into spaces that are greener, wilder and richer in nature, with support from the Devon Wildlife Trust’s ‘Wilder Communities’ programme 🦡

The programme is all about helping local people cultivate more diverse natural spaces within their neighbourhoods.

You don’t have to be an expert to get a space going - all you need is a shared love of nature and bags of enthusiasm 🌿

This month, we dug deeper (very pleased with that pun 😉) into the story behind the Friends of Shillingford Wood – a project which transformed and connected the local community.
