🏢A new chapter for Corporation Street🏢

The transformation of one of Chesterfield’s key gateways is now complete, with new paving, lighting, street furniture and wider pedestrian-friendly spaces creating a more welcoming route into the town centre.

Delivered as part of Chesterfield Borough Council’s Revitalising the Heart of Chesterfield programme, the scheme is another step in the town’s ongoing regeneration with Rykneld Square next in line.

| Yesterday we had fun paddling in a little rainwater on the newly constructed canal bed at Staveley Town Basin.

It was a rare chance to walk along the canal bed - and check out a new lock before it is flooded.

Chesterfield Canal Trust hosted a series of guided walks for the media and members of the public to show the latest restoration works of the canal, supported by funding through the government-backed Staveley Town Deal.

Work also includes 3km of towpath improvements.
Lots more exciting plans for the canal which next year celebrates its 250th anniversary. Fiona Stubbs
