ChatGPT recently updated from GPT-4 to GPT-5 and people are not happy!

Why? Because GPT-5 has less of the fluff and more of the facts, and suddenly everyone’s saying it’s lost its personality!

But YOU are the one who needs to be providing the personality! AI can speed up your writing, spark ideas, and help you get your thoughts onto the page faster.

But the nuance, the emotion, the human touch is all you!

And while it’s always good to get more eyes on your content, it’s not what matters most if you’re looking for sales.

10K views mean nothing if no one clicks, enquires, or buys.
Followers don’t pay the bills - customers do.

Whether you’re managing your own marketing or working with an agency, here’s what you should be focusing on.

✅ Is your content genuinely connecting with your ideal audience?
✅ Are you moving people from scrolling to signing up, enquiring, or buying?
✅ Can you measure value and not just vanity?

If you don’t have a team to help with that, AI can be a powerful assistant (not a replacement!)

Use it to write sharper, more intentional calls to action
Plan content around real pain points and not just trends
Analyse what’s actually converting and do more of that!

Do You Say Please & Thank You to AI?

I like to think I have good manners in real life so it’s second nature to me to be polite when I’m requesting something, whether that’s in an email to a client or a prompt in ChatGPT!

But did you know that the way you communicate with AI can impact the results you get?

Studies show that using polite, structured prompts can improve response accuracy and quality by up to 15-30% with polite prompts consistently outperforming rude ones!

Here’s some Social Media updates from October that you might have missed!

Instagram – Carousel engagement rates have now surpassed Reels, though Reels still deliver higher reach. Make sure your strategy contains a good mix of carousels, reels and stories

New Feature: You can now add music to carousel posts, making them eligible to appear in the Reels feed. This is a great chance to boost visibility and reach.

YouTube – YouTube continues to prioritise Shorts, with any video under three minutes automatically becoming a Short. Are you using YouTube Shorts for your business? I don’t use YouTube so would love to know how successful it is for you.

TikTok – Educational content is thriving, with an 18% increase in STEM-related videos and a new feed dedicated exclusively to STEM content. If your niche includes educational or STEM topics this is a great opportunity.

Facebook – In the US Facebook is rolling out new “Local” and “Explore” tabs, allowing users to toggle between content relevant to their location and curated content based on interests. This setup is similar to the differentiated feeds on Instagram and TikTok, giving users more ways to discover engaging content.

If you enjoy your work, make it known!

Research shows that when buyers know a seller enjoys creating their products or offering their services, they are more likely to buy!

They are also willing to pay more and perceive the goods or services to be higher quality.

So what can you do?

You can now add up to 20 pictures in a carousel post!

Carousel posts are one of the most engaging formats on Instagram. On average they receive 154 more interactions than single image posts.

Carousels are great for sharing new products, before and afters, educational content and storytelling.

Today is National Opportunity Day.

This day is geared specifically towards students in Scotland but is also meant for people who have started off in one career only to find that the choices they made as teens aren’t a good fit later in life.

Growing up I wanted to be a TV presenter (a failed audition as a weather presenter made me realise how terrible I would actually be 😂)

I then wanted to be a journalist, doing work experience at a magazine in London then going on to study journalism before realising I didn’t enjoy that as much as I thought either.

I then switched to Communication & Media which led me into a career in marketing and here we are!

Adam Mosseri has said that while Instagram want to connect people to the content that they care about, there are reasons why your followers might not see your posts.

📍Maybe around half of them they didn’t open Instagram that day.
📍Those who did maybe didn’t spend that much time on the app or dig deep enough into content.
📍Maybe they did, but the algorithm didn’t rank the content correctly.
📍Maybe your audience are not as interested as they used to be.

So, what can you do? Test, test, test! Experiment with your content and look for patterns. Find out what types of content work best and do more of that.
