The name Matt Bianco has been and still is, for the past 40-plus years, synonymous of uplifting Latin and Jazz tunes crafted masterfully by the singer-songwriter behind the band’s name, Mark Reilly. Now, with a rather exciting and irresistibly catchy new album out called Masquerader, Matt Bianco nails another winning record crammed with great songs, inspired songwriting and exquisite vocal deliveries from Reilly himself. You can find the full review of Masquerader published on our website at the link here below:

Denmark is one of the most prolific European countries that keeps on delivering artists of the finest quality, no matter whether they are Blues, Rock or Jazz artists, just to mention a few. One of the latest discoveries for our website is the debut album of Danish composer and trumpeter Rolf Thofte who, together with his Quintet, has delivered an album of rare beauty called Martha's Dance, a record that marries creativity and talent equally in such impressive, effortless way. You can find the full review published on our website of Martha's Dance at the link here below:

The hugely talented English pianist and composer Max Richter celebrates the 10th Anniversary of his 8 and 1/2 hours Magnum Opus called Sleep with the release of a sort of condensed version of said album, called Sleep Circle. The 90 minutes carefully chosen by the German-born composer for Sleep Circle are an absolute joy to listen to and one of those rare records capable to make the listeners to reconnect with their inner selves with the enormous class and talent emerging from Richter’s compositions.

Family love can often spark flashes of inspiration, in a music artist, which, in the case of the supremely talented American Guitar Supremo and singer-songwriter Eric Gales, means generating even more talent than Gales is naturally provided with. In a moving tribute record dedicated to his brother, the late great Little Jimmy King and aptly called A Tribute To LJK, Gales surpasses himself in delivering a record that is not only a dedication of love and respect to his brother but also an exquisite masterclass in Blues-Rock guitar playing and vocal delivery of the highest quality. Many aficionados of Free-Form Contemporary Jazz have come across, through the years, to the music and the talent of the Swiss-based artist Yumi Ito, thanks to her many remarkable skills as a singer-songwriter, pianist and composer. This exceptional artist has now released a brand new record called Lonely Island, where Ito displays a more intimate and stripped to the bone sonic approach (piano solo and voice) that confirms once again, through this very emotional record, the amazing skills of an artist that enchants the listener with her powerful singing and imaginative, improvisational piano playing. You can find the full review of Lonely Island at the link here below:

Often albums containing previously unreleased material, for any artist, may result in a mixed bag kind of record, leaving some fans slightly disgruntled or disappointed.
Fortunately, that is not the case at all for the Finnish Blues and Blues-Rock collective called Micke Björklöf & Blue Strip, who has released a highly enthralling album of never heard before songs called, aptly, Outtakes, a record that brilliantly encompasses the artistic growth of this extraordinary Scandinavian quintet. It's not always true that music artists start to slow down a little when they reach a certain age range. The perfect demonstration of what aforementioned stated comes from one of the greatest American Blues-Rock artists of the last half a century, the Guitar Supremo and singer-songwriter Walter Trout who, at the respectable age of 74 nails one of the greatest albums of his career to date. Trout’s new album, due to be released on 5th September, is called Sign Of The Times and displays an artist at his highest as a songwriter, singer and guitar player. There are very few artists, in the last century, that have been able to transform music and allow it to grow as much as the American composer Terry Riley has been able to. Considered rightly as one of the 3 fathers of Minimalism, together with Philip Glass and Steve Reich, Riley's music has and still is a perpetual font of inspiration for millions of artists around the world, so much so that, to celebrate Riley’s 90th birthday, Sony has decided to release a boxset called The Columbia Recordings, containing all 4 records that the American composer recorded with Columbia, including the memorable 1968's pivotal In C album.
You can find the link to the published review on our website of this extraordinary boxset here below:

The very tasty cocktail in question comes from a multi-ehnnic, exciting collective called Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of their music career through a new album called El Muki, a record that marries tradition with improvisation on a high level of musicianship, while fusing sonically the soundscape of different countries and cultures in an inspired manner. Every respectable Blues music lover must have, at some point, heard of the late great American singer-songwriter and Grammy Awards winner Koko Taylor and her enormous artistic talent. This exceptional Blues Queen had a long-standing working relationship with the giant American record label Alligator Records since 1975 right through the artist's passing, back in 2009. The illustrious record label, to celebrate the memory of an artist universally recognised as one of the best Blues Queen of the last 50+ years, has now released a greatest hits of some of Koko Taylor's best recordings, grouped together in an album called Crown Jewels, a record that pays beautifully respect in full to an artist that has been the Blues voice of two generations. You can find the full review of this monumental album at the link here below:
