Often albums containing previously unreleased material, for any artist, may result in a mixed bag kind of record, leaving some fans slightly disgruntled or disappointed.
Fortunately, that is not the case at all for the Finnish Blues and Blues-Rock collective called Micke Björklöf & Blue Strip, who has released a highly enthralling album of never heard before songs called, aptly, Outtakes, a record that brilliantly encompasses the artistic growth of this extraordinary Scandinavian quintet. You can find the full review of Outtakes on our Website at the link here below:

It's not always true that music artists start to slow down a little when they reach a certain age range. The perfect demonstration of what aforementioned stated comes from one of the greatest American Blues-Rock artists of the last half a century, the Guitar Supremo and singer-songwriter Walter Trout who, at the respectable age of 74 nails one of the greatest albums of his career to date. Trout’s new album, due to be released on 5th September, is called Sign Of The Times and displays an artist at his highest as a songwriter, singer and guitar player. There are very few artists, in the last century, that have been able to transform music and allow it to grow as much as the American composer Terry Riley has been able to. Considered rightly as one of the 3 fathers of Minimalism, together with Philip Glass and Steve Reich, Riley's music has and still is a perpetual font of inspiration for millions of artists around the world, so much so that, to celebrate Riley’s 90th birthday, Sony has decided to release a boxset called The Columbia Recordings, containing all 4 records that the American composer recorded with Columbia, including the memorable 1968's pivotal In C album.
You can find the link to the published review on our website of this extraordinary boxset here below:

Imagine 1 part of New York Contemporary Jazz, 1 part Andean folkloric music, 1 part Afro percussive Beat and a very tasty sonic cocktail will be served to you. The very tasty cocktail in question comes from a multi-ehnnic, exciting collective called Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of their music career through a new album called El Muki, a record that marries tradition with improvisation on a high level of musicianship, while fusing sonically the soundscape of different countries and cultures in an inspired manner. One of the most exciting Blues and Soul record releases for 2025 is, undoubtedly, the new album of the American Saxophone Maestro and singer-songwriter Terry Hanck, called Grease To Gravy, where this 80-years-old extraordinary artist pours his heart and soul in a record where Blues, R&B, Rock, Jazz, Soul and even Dub are linked all together by the artistry and the voice of an inspired artist as Hanck proves to be. Every respectable Blues music lover must have, at some point, heard of the late great American singer-songwriter and Grammy Awards winner Koko Taylor and her enormous artistic talent. This exceptional Blues Queen had a long-standing working relationship with the giant American record label Alligator Records since 1975 right through the artist's passing, back in 2009. The illustrious record label, to celebrate the memory of an artist universally recognised as one of the best Blues Queen of the last 50+ years, has now released a greatest hits of some of Koko Taylor's best recordings, grouped together in an album called Crown Jewels, a record that pays beautifully respect in full to an artist that has been the Blues voice of two generations. Where Brazilian music history and tradition meets American 70's Soul, Jazz, Funk and Disco in the most delightful fashion. American composer and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge and Brazilian actress and singer-songwriter Samantha Schmütz have joined forces together to make an album simply called Samantha And Adrian, where two different music worlds join together in perfect harmony. He is and has been the King Midas of contemporary Blues/Rock worldwide for over three decades! The American singer-songwriter and Guitar Supremo Kenny Wayne Shepherd returns to the United Kingdom with his Band on his World Tour, with a very Special Guest joining him on stage, the one and only Blues living legend that is Bobby Rush. Bluebird Reviews had the privilege to be invited at Shepherd’s London show, where the American artist showed once again and clearly, in the sold-out Shepherd’s Bush Empire, why he is one of the most respected, talented and loved Blues-Rock artists in the world today. It is so overwhelming to see that, in these days and age, there are still artists that preserve the history of their countries and their lands through the power of music. One of the most respected and talented American singer-songwriters, Hal Cannon , pays a wonderful homage to the music of the Wild West era through his brand new solo album called Cowboy Sutra, where the Utah based artist chisels an authentic sonic masterpiece that exudes so much passion and love for an important time capsule in American Music history.
