Your Tidy Space

Your Tidy Space Professional Declutterer and Organiser Hi! I’m Francesca and I am passionate about organising.

As a mum of two young children I understand what a difference a tidy organised space can make to maintaining a happy home. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and have worked in various roles all of which have given me relevant experience which can be applied in my role as a professional organiser. I get huge satisfaction and joy from turning a messy, disorganised room (or drawer, cupboar

d, whole house!) into a tidy, calm, usable space. I am a member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO).

If the thought of a big pre-Christmas clear out feels overwhelming and impossible, try this instead: declutter just one item a day for the next 20 days. That’s it. Simple, achievable and surprisingly effective.

📣So consider this your nudge:

🏃‍♀️Start today

👋 Let go of one thing you no longer use, love or need.

🎄 By Christmas, you’ll have cleared 20 items with almost no effort.

Are you in? Let me know and I’ll cheer you on 💪 🌟

Woohoo - it’s nearly deck-the-halls time! 🎄🥳

If you sometimes feel unsure where to start with your Christmas decorating (or a bit overwhelmed once you do), here are a few tips to help guide you:

🎄 Start with the feeling you want. Cosy? Fun? Calm? Decide on the vibe you want your space to have once it’s decorated. Keeping that feeling in mind as you go will help steer your choices.

🎄 Swap, don’t just add. Instead of piling new things on top of your usual decor, try swapping out everyday pieces for festive ones. It keeps everything looking more intentional and less chaotic.

🎄 Fairy lights are your best friend. They offer maximum impact without taking up any floor or surface space - a quick, effortless way to create instant Christmas magic.

🎄 Think vertically. If you’re short on space, decorate upwards. Doorways, walls, banisters, and even the backs of doors are perfect for adding festive touches without clutter.

Enjoy decking your halls - and I’d love to see photos once it’s done! 😍✨

Little before and after from a session with a new client last week. Her wardrobe wasn’t organised and was so full that it was difficult to use, so things were landing on a chair in the corner of her bedroom instead. This is so easily done but is such a mental drain on you at the start of the day 👎 We took everything out, she made decisions on what she was happy to part with, and we put them back in in categories so it’s much easier to use. We filled around 10 bags, most of which went to charity, some to ragging and some to be sold. At the end of the session, my client said ‘I really don’t know why I haven’t done this sooner, it’s amazing’ 🥳🤩

Life’s too short to surround yourself with things that make you feel guilty or sad. By letting them go, you’re sticking up for yourself and your home 💪

Don’t forget the clocks go back overnight tonight ⏰

Whilst an extra hour in bed is of course a great option, if you have an impulse to be a little bit productive this weekend, here’s some ways you could spend the hour that’ll give you a nice boost of achievement 💪 ✅

Looking for a productive half term activity? While “Let’s declutter” might earn you a grunt or an eye roll 🙄 from your tween or teen, you might get a better reaction if you mention they could make some money from it…

I recently worked with a client who had stacks of old DVDs and CDs. It can be tricky to get your head around parting with them, having spent a lot buying them in the first place (I hear this from clients so often), and so I suggested she see if her son fancied selling them online via sites like Music Magpie, WeBuyBooks, or Zapper - it’s really easy, and the pounds soon add up (enough to tempt any pocket-money-seeking teen anyway!).

Another great option is selling clothes and bits on Vinted 👕👜
With a little guidance, it’s a perfect half-term project - clearing space and earning cash at the same time! 🙌

Helping a loved one sort through a lifetime of belongings takes huge trust 💛 - which made this review particularly touching to receive.

I loved working with this lady. We made brilliant progress in our sessions together, filled with as much laughing along the way as there was decluttering!

Had a little wardrobe shuffle recently ✨ I tried folding my knitwear into drawers (because apparently that’s the ‘right’ way 🤷‍♀️). Looked pretty, saved space, made me feel like a proper grown up… but turns out I’m really not a folder, nor are drawers the way forward for me because it seems that when it comes to clothing, if I can’t see it, I forget it exists!
So I’m back to hanging. Yes, there’ll be hanger bumps and less space, but at least I can see (and therefore remember to wear) what I own.

Lesson reminded: the “perfect” system for you is whichever one you’ll actually stick to 💪 and sometimes discovering it means a bit of trial and error!

It’s that time of year when lots of people start thinking about moving house 🍂✨ So I thought I’d share a few tips that might help if you’re planning a move this Autumn.

And even if you’re staying put, these ideas can give your home a fresh new feel - and remind you of all the reasons you fell in love with it in the first place. 🏡

🧥🥾Now that we’re having to reach for jackets and coats again, I thought I’d share this before and after of a client’s cloakroom cupboard. This cupboard is a fantastic space, but just needed a bit of zoning and decluttering. They were able to happily part with around 30% of the shoes that were in there (when they’ve been buried at the bottom of a pile, chances are you haven’t missed them!) and a few rarely used sporting things were able to move to the loft. Having a seasonal sort out changes a space like this from being chaotic and overwhelming to functional and helpful. Absolutely an area worth spending some time keeping on top of!

After our session, I recommended some tubs that fitted into the spaces and so now each family member has their own designated spot, taking into account heights/habits and abilities (a 2 year old won’t be hanging a coat on a hanger but could be coaxed into hanging it on a low hook!).

What’s your coat and shoe storage like? Even when you feel you’ve nailed it, maintenance is key, but that’s where a good system pays off ⭐️

Just 2 hours to turn this outbuilding from chaos to calm! 🧹💪
A few bits went to the local charity shop, some made their way to the recycling centre, and the rest were grouped into zones that actually make sense based on how often they’re used.
Outbuildings like this can so easily become clutter magnets — especially after a big garden or DIY project when it’s tempting to just shove things in and call it a day (definitely guilty of this 🙋‍♀️!).
But taking a bit of time now and then to reset the space really helps keep it functional. And the trick? Make it just as easy to put things away as it is to grab them. Future you will thank you. 🙌✨
