We’ve got two destinations for you this week with Energy Global’s ! ✈️ 👜

This week, Qair Group has secured wind projects in Moldova and Romania. 🇷🇴 🇲🇩

The company has reached a new milestone by signing a power purchase agreement for its 27.5 MW wind project in Moldova, winner of the country’s first competitive tender, and by securing a second 50 MW Contracts for Difference (CfD) award in Romania for its Cobadin wind farm. ✍

The signing of this agreement in Moldova reflects a growing complementarity between the Moldovan and Romanian markets, now co-ordinated under a single operator. 💪

It’s Friday once again so let’s take a look at a before logging off for the weekend! 🎉

This week, we’re exploring more of our Summer issue of Energy Global. ☀️

In this issue, Francisco Siro, Head of Advisory at R&D consultancy, Sagentia Innovation, proposes that a blend of cross-sector learnings and novel approaches will help floating offshore wind achieve its potential. 🤔

The article proposes five key areas that have limiting factors in the sector; technical issues, industrialisation and supply chain, operations and maintenance, end of life, and asset management. 🖐

Bridging the gap between demonstration and development to unlock the full potential of floating offshore wind is not easy. Cumulative benefits of addressing key aspects of the five main limiting factors could accelerating its maturation, aiding the transition to viable, large scale solutions. 💡

Before our Autumn issue is in full swing, let’s revisit our Summer issue for an Energy Global ! ☀️

In a Q&A with Jessica Casey, Editor of Energy Global, Robin Saunders, Concept Naval Architect, Chartwell Marine Ltd, highlights how new designs of daughter crafts can help meet the rapidly growing demand for offshore wind vessels in Europe and Asia Pacific. ⚓ 🌏

“As the maritime industry accelerates its decarbonisation efforts, next-generation daughter craft have been identified to potentially play a significant role in demonstrating the viability of low-emission technologies in offshore conditions. Unlike legacy vessels reliant solely on diesel, these crafts can incorporate multiple propulsion systems – such as methanol power and hybrid technologies – that can be tailored to each vessel’s exact requirements.” 🤔

It's Wednesday again, which can mean one thing only: it's time for Energy Global’s . 🧠

In a recent article for Energy Global Paul Cairns, CEO of Charge Offshore, highlights the urgent need integrate offshore vessel charging infrastructure into new projects from the outset, not only to reduce operational emissions, but to unlock long-term economic benefits for industry as it continues to expand. 🔋

"The technology is already here: commercially available electric vessels, maturing marine batteries and proven offshore charging systems that allow vessels to draw zero-emission power directly from turbines or substations. What’s missing, however, is coordinated policy and developer commitment to install charging infrastructure as part of the project scope."

It's Tuesday again, which can mean only one thing: it's time for another post from Energy Global! ✈️

This Tuesday, we’re visiting the UK. 🇬🇧

The world's largest offshore wind farm, Hornsea 3, is currently under construction 120 km off the Norfolk coast.

The project will feature 197 turbines spanning nearly 700 km², and will generate enough electricity to power over 3.3 million UK homes once operational.

Given the considerable distance offshore, it will be Ørsted first UK project to use HVDC technology. In partnership with Hitachi Energy and Aibel, Orsted is installing four HVDC converter stations - two offshore and two onshore – to convert electricity between AC and DC.

Orsted's article on the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm appeared in our Summer ☀️ issue. Sign up for a free trial of Energy Global to read the full article: https://bit.ly/3NwDhus

Before you embark on weekend plans, let’s round off the week with a from Energy Global. 💚

In our summer issue, Renny Vandewege, General Manager, Weather and Climate Intelligence, DTN, details five ways weather intelligence helps renewable energy mitigate weather risks. 5️⃣ 🌦️

By its very nature, the renewable energy industry is highly weather-dependent for the generation of power. It is highly dependent on protection from weather impacts. To address these risks, the industry is increasingly turning to advanced weather intelligence, including real-time weather data, long-term climate forecasts and AI-powered analytics. 📊

This article explores how these tools help to strengthen infrastructure, protect personnel, and ensure reliable energy flow into the grid. Vandewege explains the impact of extreme weather on renewable energy and how future innovations in weather intelligence will impact renewable energy resilience. 💪

Get your passport ready - it's time!

This week, we're taking a look at a renewable energy update from Germany. 🇩🇪

MET Group has commissioned and begun commercial operations at its first solar power plant. The Kentzlin solar park, located in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, is now supplying renewable electricity to the German grid. ⚡

With an installed capacity of 11.5 MWp and an expected annual generation of approximately 13 GWh, the Kentzlin solar park produces enough electricity to power around 3600 German households each year. The commissioning of the plant marks a significant milestone in MET Group's renewable energy expansion strategy. 💚

The project was initially acquired in 2023 and, since then, MET Group has finalised the development process, secured an award in the EEG tender, and overseen the construction and timely delivery of the project. 🏆
