Argus Media has reported that there has remained a lack of clarity in the lead up to the rollout of the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in January 2026; the market still waits on confirmation from the EU regarding key aspects of the charge calculation. 🇪🇺

Market participants are split as to how the market will react to the additional carbon-related costs associated with the CBAM, and under which trade terms — whether fob, cfr, cif or fca — the most liquidity will be found.

Global hydrogen supplier and global industrial gases company Air Products and crop nutrition and ammonia company Yara International ASA have been working to combine Air Products' industrial gas capabilities and low-emission hydrogen with Yara's ammonia production and distribution network. ♻️

Air Products is developing the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, the largest low-carbon energy complex in the state of Louisiana, US. The complex is designed to produce >750 million ft3/d of low-carbon hydrogen, capturing 95% of the carbon dioxide generated during normal operation.

Addis Energy, a company harnessing the Earth’s potential for affordable, abundant ammonia production, announced it has raised US$8.3 million in an oversubscribed seed round, bringing the company’s total funding to date to US$17.3 million. 💵

The round was led by At One Ventures, with existing investors Engine Ventures and Pillar VC also participating. Addis Energy will use the fresh capital to further advance its AI-aided laboratory of chemical reactors that simulate subsurface conditions to produce ammonia at a cost advantage vs Haber-Bosch through a net energy-positive process.

Adecoagro S.A., a sustainable production company in South America, has announced the submission of a binding offer to acquire YPF's 50% stake in Profertil Agro S.A., one of the largest producers of granular urea in South America. 🌎

This binding offer was submitted under the same terms and conditions to those previously agreed between Adecoagro and Nutrien, including a purchase price of approximately US$600 million. In relation to the acquisition of Nutrien's 50 % interest in Profertil S.A., the main precedent conditions are fulfilled.

Saipem has been awarded two new contracts by Dangote Fertilizer, Africa’s leading fertilizer producer, for technical know-how and licensing for the realisation of six urea units – four in Nigeria and two in Ethiopia – and the provision of basic engineering and design services for the related plants. 🇳🇬 🇪🇹

The licenses concern the use of patented and proprietary Snamprogetti™ urea technology, while the process engineering services include all the technical documentation required for the construction of the urea units within the fertilizer production plants. Each unit will feature a record capacity of 4235 tpd.

OCI Global has announced that it has reached an agreement for the sale of 100% of its equity interests in OCI Ammonia Holding B.V. to AGROFERT, a.s., a European nitrogen products manufacturer for a total consideration of €290 million. 💶

OCI Ammonia Holding owns both OCI Terminal Europoort B.V. (OTE) – OCI’s ammonia import and storage terminal in Rotterdam – and OCI Ammonia Distribution B.V. (OAD) – OCI’s ammonia distribution platform, serving third party, off-site European customers.

Cyan H2 has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KBR to support the development of its Eastern Montana Fertilizer Project, a major initiative aimed at producing 650 000 tpy of urea fertilizer from natural gas. 🇺🇸 🏔️

The MoU follows Cyan H2's establishment, on 31 July 2025, of an offtake agreement with a publicly-traded American company for 100% of the plant's fertilizer production, ensuring revenue through 2044. Located near Culbertson, Montana, the project represents a significant step forward in Cyan H2’s mission to deliver clean hydrogen-based solutions for industrial and agricultural applications.
