ASTRÏD & SYLVAIN CHAUVEAU, new review:
"This album asks us: what remains of a song when the melody changes, the harmony fades, and the points of reference blur? The answer may lie in what we didn't expect. In the interstices, in the silences, in the new resonances. Astrïd and Chauveau didn't cover these songs: they opened them. Like opening a door to a room you thought you knew by heart, but where the light suddenly changes everything. We come away from listening with images: a room where white sheets float, a clearing at dusk, a cracked mirror where we can still make out the face of a long-gone singer. That's the power of this album: it creates visions. It doesn't recount the songs, it dreams them. In this sense, Cover Songs Originally Sung by Women Singers is not a cover album. It is an atlas of sound ghosts, a map of possibilities, an invitation to listen differently — and to remember differently."
