The Shinkokoi Award is one the National Show are immensely proud to feature at the show. The award is given by members of the UK Shinkokai to a koi what is believed to be competitive at a Japanese level. So no mean feat to be presented with this or have an honourable mention!

Congratulations to Chip Kawaksingh for being presented with this award for 2025 and to our honourable mentions Matthew Lawrie, Carl Morrison and Steve Lavers.

A week on from the show and as I sit in front of the TV watching Wimbledon, the weather is overcast and cooler and I have just about caught up on my sleep!

I find myself looking back to this time 7 days ago when the show was in full swing. The atmosphere around the showground was one of excitement and enthusiasm and people were streaming through the gates in anticipation of the first show of the UK season.

I was running around madly (but calmly!) ensuring everything went as smoothly as possible alongside our fabulous group of volunteers who worked tirelessly during the build week, over the show weekend and then on the breakdown in intense heat on the Monday to ensure everything went as planned.

On behalf of the show committee I would like to thank you all for your support of the National Koi Show.

I hope you would agree the level of koi on show was superb and the weekend was very enjoyable for everyone who attended.

Now its time for me to enjoy the rest of the UK shows and visit them as a member of the public. Hopefully I will bump into many of you at these shows!
