Tourism is an important part of the economy in Trøndelag and Jämtland, and there is pressure to provide more houses for visitors, yet at the same time it’s important to protect the natural beauty of these two regions.

Erik Melin Söderström from Mid Sweden Uni, Margrete Vognild Blokhus from Klyv Innovasjon and the Source project team are working to identify and promote sustainable practices in the provision and development of holiday homes.

We spoke to Dr. Blanca Ausín, a Distinguished Researcher at the Spanish National Research Council, (CSIC) about the ERC-funded PASSAGE project (https://passage.csic.es/).

By combining oceanographic fieldwork with advanced geochemical analyses, her team investigates how ocean currents redistribute sedimentary particles used to reconstruct past climates and quantifies the biases this transport introduces.

Water scarcity is a pressing issue across large parts of Europe, underlining the importance of managing existing resources effectively and efficiently.

The team behind the I-ReWater project (I-ReWater Proyecto Interreg Sudoe) aim to help increase the use of reclaimed water in the agricultural sector, in the process reducing the need to use freshwater resources, as Professor Javier José Cancela Barrio from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela explains.
