Energy drink sales to under-16s set to be banned from April 2026

The UK government has announced plans to ban the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre to under-16s in England from April 2026.

The proposed legislation will apply to drinks sold in shops, restaurants, cafés, vending machines and online. Tea, coffee and lower-caffeine soft drinks will not be affected.
