Great to travel down to Glasgow yesterday to the Fort FC v Glasgow United match. Several new signings to the 1st team which also had an average age of just over 20 years old. No shyness or lack of going for it against such an experienced and more senior Glasgow team with several ex professional players. 3-1 to Glasgow, but first goal in the game to the Fort from Liam Martin. Many of the players were also excited to see former Celtic player Efe Ambrose in the stand and have him join in the team picture. Well done guys. Here we are again - another camera milestone from a total photography nerd - read on and prepare to be 'amazed'!!!

Teamed up with this guy 49 years ago today, (6th July, 1976), brand new from Gratispool, Glasgow for £258.49. Tens of thousands of exposures later covering thousands of different events in many places, it has never once let me down and used it by choice well into the autofocus days!

As an example QM image from VJ Day 1995 - London Royal press pack sneering behind their hands as I was using an F2 (80-200mm lens), but whose picture made p1 Daily Express next day - and inside pages of a few others?

A bit battered about the body it still works perfectly (unlike its user). Never serviced or returned to Nikon for any fault, (although meter did give up a couple of years ago), motor drive came a lot later and only other mod' is the addition of a +2 dioptre eyepiece (not an F2 fault), just the old guy holding it.

Top pro camera and combination of lenses, which still stands out in this digital age, Nikon really scored with the F2 system before they lost their way and their world lead in the press pack with poor decisions in the early days of digital.

Love my F2 and wife says I will be buried with it!! She also says I'm a saddo, (she did however quietly snap the birthday celebration shot on her 'phone!). Happy birthday F2.

Congratulations to all who graduated from Lochaber High School this evening. It certainly was a race against the rain, but we just made it. Didn't take the picture in the usual place as a Mother Gull was sitting on her nest just there. As these youngsters were graduating and looking forward to a new life, one little chick was doing just the same as it broke through its eggshell to enter the world. https://albaphotos.smugmug.com/Schools/Lochaber-High-School-Graduation-2024

It was a great pleasure tonight to present Fort William FC 1st Team player, Liam Martin with my award as 'Most Photographed Player of the Season". With the Club's agreement I added this silver tray to their list of trophies last year to mark the fact that their 50th anniversary also coincided with my half century in the press. After almost 30 years of covering Fort FC matches for the local, national, and occasionally international media, what better way for me to recognise Fort FC's tremendous staying power and achievement of their players than this one. Martin Munro (who incidentally, hates having his picture taken) was the first recipient in the 2023/24 season, with Liam becoming the 2024/25 winner. Like Marty before him, Liam is immensely talented and appears in the thick of action in more images than anyone else. He is also particularly noticeable for his aerial tackles and shots at goal, which is why his plaque on the tray says 'always in the air'. Well done Liam and congratulations.

Stopped off at the dramatic, rain fuelled, Glencoe Gorge on the way back from Glasgow For once, no-one else there! However factoring in the that is was almost dark, strong (very) winds and pouring rain, perhaps not much of a surprise. Camera set on T, so maybe around 45 seconds at f3.5, 18mm (35mm equivalent) sitting precariously on the fence (camera, not me).
