Bishops Cannings collect 3 points after knocking 6 past Redhouse.
BCFC 6 - 4 Redhouse FC - Tuesday 12th August - Green Lane, Devizes 1930 KO
After an incredibly dodgy first 15 minutes which saw Redhouse 0-3 up, the penny dropped for Bishops Cannings, and top scorer from last season Szymon Raczek drove the first home for the hosts. Momentum gathered and soon after saw Ethan Howard get his first of a brace.
Oliver Barnes grabbed the third for Bishops bringing the score to 3-4. The build up, momentum and determination from the Home team definitely shone through as Szymon grabbed his second to level the game.
Just after the hour mark, Ethan completed his brace, which knocked the wind out of the visitors. Redhouse persisted, and kept possession at times, but the defence stood firm with Keeper Tom North standing tall between the sticks to keep the score at 5-4.
Substitute Harry Drewitt entered the frame and despite having an early chance ruled out for being offside, he did find the next just before the full time whistle.
A good shout must be said for the Redhouse keeper at keeping it highly contested as had it not been for him, it could have been double figures for Bishops in the end.
The orange and black side, did not make life easy for themselves, but showed an epic amount of resilience and determination to fight back. First team manager Kieren Chivers said after the game: 'the team showed unreal character, it takes a special team to come back from 3nil down and win'.
After not quite the start Cannings had hoped to have to this years league competition, this win sees them grab points, and are lifted out of the bottom three. Bishops host Faringdon Town Development at Green Lane, who had five past them on the first day of the season away to Stratton. Faringdon have only played the one game so far, as their second fixture away to Marlborough was postponed.
Bishops look to capitalise on the home advantage on the 16th and push on.
