Recently celebrating 15 years on air, in one form or another, the formula, recipe, list of ingredients remains exactly what it always was: plenty of recent tunes, some grand old favourites, some from the dustiest alcove of the Old Curiosity Shop and yet all label-free and all the better for it.

“Strange Brew” – label-free, genre-fluid, non-genre-specific, thoughtful, literate and articulate – and every other cliché under the sun. A new track from Ady Johnson’s “Under Gainsborough Skies”, some reflections on the fate of the voiceless masses over the centuries and much else, far less pompous.

Today’s “Strange Brew”: www.td1radio.scot 18.00 – 20.00 today, 7th June.
As always, very difficult to chase any obvious thread through the list: better just be prepared to expect the unexpected. There are several fine ’26 tracks (Shirley Barr, The Lower Angel Band, Maz O’Connor ), some lovely late-60s material, a vague Irish theme at one point - but all held together by the determination just to be interesting and “Ooh, that’s rather good”.
