Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! ๐Ÿป

Whether you're a new dad, a grandad, a stepdad, a dog dad, or just the bloke who gets called upon to open every jar in the house, today is your day.

Being a dad doesn't come with a manual (despite what some of you claim while refusing to ask for directions), but you're all doing an amazing job.

The long days, the bad jokes, the taxi service, the DIY that somehow takes three trips to the DIY shop โ€” it doesn't go unnoticed.

So give yourselves a pat on the back today.

You've earned it.

Now, onto another important Sunday tradition...

We roast.

Today's roast menu features Beef and Lamb, alongside our full menu, because not everyone wants gravy on absolutely everything. (They're wrong, but we respect their decision.)

It's also Garstang Makers Market today.

The last one was fantastic, packed with talented local makers, great stalls and plenty to see.

So have a wander around the market, support some brilliant local businesses, then head over to the Wheatsheaf, put your feet up, and let us do the cooking.

After all, if there's one thing dads deserve on Father's Day, it's a proper roast and not having to wash up afterwards.

See you soon! โค๏ธ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅฉ

Just a friendly reminder that our kitchen is closed all day today while we cater for a couple of private functions.

Our bar remains open as normal, so if you're looking for a drink and a catch-up with friends, we'll be here as usual.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

We'll be back serving food from 12 noon tomorrow.

Well..

Three points on the board and England's World Cup campaign is officially underway.

Going forward we looked dangerous.

At the back we occasionally looked like four strangers who'd met for the first time in the car park and agreed to give football a go.

Another cracking night at the pub though.

The tactical knowledge on display was incredible. Every pass was analysed, every substitution was criticised and every decision was apparently wrong.

By half-time we'd heard from future England managers, former England managers, people who nearly played for England and one bloke who once scored a winner for Leyland St Mary's Under 12s in 1987 and therefore knows exactly what needs fixing.

Special mention to the gentleman who spent most of the second half demanding Dan Burn be brought on up front.

When asked why, his answer was simply:

"He's tall."

Hard to argue with that level of tactical insight.

Anyway, the football fantasy is over and it's back to reality.

Just a reminder that our kitchen will be CLOSED on Saturday as we're catering for large functions at The Wheatsheaf.

We'll be back as normal on Sunday.

Until then, enjoy the next few days of reading social media posts from people who were calling for the manager's sacking before kick-off and declaring us World Champions by full-time.

Football. We wouldn't have it any other way.

๐ŸŽถ Me and me mum and me dad and me gran, We're off to Waterloo... ๐ŸŽถ

Well, we're not actually.

For starters, it's miles away. Secondly, have you seen the price of trains?

We're off to The Wheatsheaf instead.

Three big screens. Cold drinks. Great atmosphere.

And absolutely no chance of getting stuck behind a bloke with a giant foam hand on the M6.

Tonight it's:

โšฝ World Cup 2026
๐Ÿ•˜ Kick Off 9pm

Join us as England begin another glorious campaign that will either:

๐Ÿ† End with us bringing football home...
or
๐Ÿ“บ Have us all suddenly becoming experts on why the manager got it wrong.

Either way, we'll be watching together.

It's coming home.

(Please note: "home" has not yet been confirmed and may be subject to penalties, VAR decisions and crushing emotional heartbreak.)

See you at The Wheatsheaf! ๐Ÿป

๐Ÿšจ FINAL CALL FOR THE QUIZ ๐Ÿšจ

We know.

It's usually on a Wednesday.

It's Tuesday today.

Your routine is ruined.

Your calendar is in bits.

Some of you have probably already put the bins out by mistake.

Before anyone complains, please direct all correspondence to FIFA, who somehow managed to organise an entire World Cup without checking when the Wheatsheaf Quiz was on.

An astonishing lack of planning if you ask us.

So tonight it's Quiz Night.

Tomorrow it's England v Croatia.

Which means you've got two perfectly good reasons to leave the house this week.

And let's be honest, some of you would come out if we announced a competitive paint-drying championship.

Tonight you can show everyone how clever you are.

Tomorrow you can show everyone how you'd do a better job than the England manager.

It's a busy week for experts.

See you tonight for the quiz.

And tomorrow for 90 minutes of shouting at a television. ๐Ÿป

๐Ÿป Happy Monday people!

Just a couple of reminders before the week gets away from us...

๐Ÿง  Our usual Wednesday Quiz has been moved to Tuesday this week. Don't turn up on Wednesday with your "I've been revising all week" face, because you'll be a day late.

โšฝ On Wednesday, England take on Croatia in the World Cup with a 9pm kick-off, and we'll have it live across all 3 screens. Come and join us for 90 minutes of hope, optimism and shouting advice at professional footballers who definitely can't hear you.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ A quick heads-up for Saturday 20th June - our kitchen will be closed all day as we're catering for two large functions throughout the day.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ We'll be back open as normal from 12pm on Sunday, just in time for Father's Day. So if you've forgotten to buy Dad a present, a roast dinner and a pint is still a solid recovery plan.

Have a great week everyone!

14/06/2026

It's Sunday.

A day of rest.

That's why we've spent all morning peeling potatoes while you've been sat in your pants watching people renovate houses they'll never actually buy.

Today's roasts are Beef or Gammon, with homemade roasties, homemade Yorkies and enough gravy to make your plate look like a small boating lake.

2 courses for just ยฃ18.

We've also got World Cup football on.
At 6pm it's Germany v Curacao.

We weren't sure Curacao was a real country until the fixture list came out. We genuinely thought it was either a cruise ship or a skin cream.

Then at 9pm it's Netherlands v Japan.
No idea who's winning, but after three pints you'll suddenly become an expert on both teams.

So forget cooking.

Nobody wants to spend their Sunday washing roasting tins, arguing with the smoke alarm and discovering they've somehow cremated the Yorkshire puddings.

Come here instead.

We'll cook. We'll wash up. We'll pour the pints.

You just need to decide whether you're having Beef or Gammon and how many times you're going to say:

"Go on then... one more...
