'Your First Shot' Film Competition

Win funding to create your short film!

To celebrate 20 years, YourFilm is launching "Your First Shot," a competition offering an aspiring filmmaker the chance to produce their own short film. This initiative honours founders Matthew Newman and Kevin Owens' original filmmaking dreams, providing the winner with comprehensive support from YourFilm. It's a unique opportunity for a young talent to kickstart their cinematic journey.

Competition Criteria:
We're looking for exciting and practically achievable ideas from aspiring filmmakers!

Project Type: Live-action films, either fiction or non-fiction.
Duration: Films should have a maximum running time of 15 minutes.
Content: Submissions must be non-political.
Location: Applicants must reside within the region spanning from the Scottish Borders down to Manchester.
Age: Entrants must be between 18 and 25 years old.
Experience: This opportunity is for amateur filmmakers who have not previously received funding or commissions for a production (self-funded or self-shot work is acceptable).
