🏃‍♂️ What an event. What a day. What a region! 💜

Ryan Walker brings our Great North Run 2026 coverage to a close from the finish line in South Shields.

From the start line in Newcastle to the emotional finishes on the coast, it’s been incredible sharing the stories, atmosphere and celebrations of the 45th Great North Run.

A huge thank you to everyone who spoke to our teams, and to everyone who joined our special coverage on Affinity Radio North East and Durham OnAir.

🇬🇧 Great North Run history!

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has become the first serving Prime Minister to complete the Great North Run!

After crossing the famous finish line in South Shields, Andy spoke to Affinity Radio’s Martin Haskin about taking on the 13.1-mile challenge and what it meant to be part of the 45th Great North Run.
