Seven years ago, I watched my first Pride march and got my very first Pride flag.
At the time, I didn’t find pride in my identity. I had just added more confusion onto my plate. I was disabled and I was q***r, couldn’t I just have one thing happening?
Over the years, I started getting involved in LGBTQ+ societies, found out there were other disabled q***rs like me and became more politically active.
Then, in 2022, I started this account and swore I wouldn’t talk about being q***r. I was already too political for people, and adding more seemed like a lot.
I did interviews and spoken about disability, politics and identity, but the question was always how much I could share without completely giving myself away.
Seven years later, I finally made it to with friends, to stand against the overcorporation of pride 🌈
I want to end this with this:
Disabled q***rs exist. We have always existed, even when people have treated disability and q***rness like two completely separate worlds.
