🎥 Today we’re launching our new animation series

We’re proud to share four short films created with Media Co-op, shaped by real lived experience from people affected by the justice system in Scotland. These stories are honest, human and hopeful and we hope they help more people feel seen, understood and supported.

Below you’ll find all four animations, each exploring a different part of the journey.

💛 Isolation

When life is turned upside down and you don’t know who to speak to, the feeling of loneliness can be overwhelming. This film shows how one safe conversation can make someone feel understood and no longer alone.

🔥 Fear

Fear of the future, fear of the media, fear of not knowing what comes next, this film captures that intense anxiety and the difference it makes when someone with lived experience says: “I’ve been where you are.”

🚪 Stigma

For many people, the hardest part isn’t the sentence, it’s what comes afterward. Stigma can block opportunities, connection and confidence. This film shows how sharing your story and finding support can create change.

🌟 Brand Film | Turn the Page

Across the UK, 12.5 million people have a criminal record. Behind every number is a real person, a family, a future. This film reflects what Next Chapter Scotland stands for: support, not stigma and the belief that everyone has the right to turn the page.

Thank you for watching, sharing and supporting this work.
Every view, every repost, every conversation helps challenge stigma and bring understanding, compassion and humanity back into the narrative.

💛 Everyone deserves a second chance.
Support, not stigma.

16 Days start today

Today marks the start of , the annual international campaign calling for action on gender-based violence.

Violence against women & girls is a cause & consequence of women's inequality. To eradicate this violence, Scotland must prioritise primary prevention across all areas of public policy. From housing & planning to social security & education, every policy decision can either reinforce inequality or help dismantle it.

The impact of experiencing, or fearing, gender-based violence is all-encompassing, with devastating consequences for the health, social & economic circumstances of women & girls, as well as their families, workplaces & communities

Primary prevention aims to stop this violence before it starts, creating a society where women & men have equal access to rights, resources, decision-making & safety. It means addressing the systemic & structural causes, not just the consequences, of violence against women & girls.

Head to our website to find out more about our work on primary prevention.

If you’ve been affected by gender-based violence, you are not alone: support is available from Scottish Women's Aid, R**eCrisis Scotland & local services near you.

"We made the mistakes, so you don't have to." media co-op presented 'Lights, Camera, Impact' at the Circular Communities Scotland Annual Conference: tips on how to create short videos for social media on your mobile phone. We ran through the most common mistakes, reminding people to: charge the phone, clear the memory, clean the lens, pick whether to shoot vertical or landscape, check the background of your shot, and turn on airplane mode - all before you press record. Seems blindingly obvious, but so easy to forget. Thanks to everyone at the workshop who shared your expertise and insights. What a great buzz at the Conference, thanks for inviting us.
