🎥 New from Inner Ear: Constructively Critical

How do we solve the AI energy problem?

If admin disappeared, what else becomes possible?

This short video essay by Dougal Perman explores how AI might help creative people free up time, take on bigger challenges and even reshape the way we think about energy.

It's Big Music vs. Big AI at the moment. But as far as we're concerned the real debate isn't about scraping or imitation, it's about protecting the IP we already own and welcoming technological disruption without losing our humanity in the process.

Becahse technology is changing everything fast. But is it making things better?

Dougal Perman's latest piece, explores why we need disruption with humanity at its core. Innovation isn’t just about new tech, it’s about people.

AI is already transforming the creative industries. Now’s the time to make sure your organisation is ready to benefit. Check out our new workshop, which we can deliver for cultural organisations to empower their development.

It’s been a hell of a time for culture. For cultural organisations in Scotland, securing Multi-Year Funding from Creative Scotland recently is a huge achievement. But for many creative companies…

Inner Ear is immersed in culture. Our director Dougal Perman writes about the state of the creative economy.

Scotland is at a critical juncture. With the Scottish budget announcement approaching, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to prioritise culture as a driver of economic recovery and societal wellbeing. But will the government take it?

Dougal has been vocal about the importance of culture in securing Scotland’s future. My Seven Steps to Save Scotland’s Creative Economy article outlines exactly how a £100M investment in culture could deliver a five-fold return, support thousands of jobs, and unlock innovation across our creative economy.

Campaigns like , championed by organisations such as the SMIA, are keeping the pressure on. As I’ve written, this isn’t just about saving the arts; it’s about recognising the transformative potential of culture to create inclusive growth, enhance wellbeing, and tackle the challenges of the modern world.

Now’s the time to push for real action. Read my article here: https://sceptical.scot/2024/10/seven-steps-to-save-scotlands-creative-economy/

What are your thoughts? How can we ensure the government prioritises culture in this budget? Let’s discuss.

How to stop Scotland lagging behind? Dougal Perman proposes a carefully targeted plan to invest that long-promised £100m for the creative industries. But the money must be spent now.
