CBR is nearing its 6 anniversary and we’ve launched a fundraiser to keep the wheels on 📻
Nobody likes to be reminded about the pandemic, but it’s difficult to separate the story from it. In some ways, I don’t think we could l have chosen a worse time to start a project a few weeks before the pandy.
As a result, our timeline runs right through a significant period of change in the world we live in and the Glasgow we once knew. We’ve had to constantly adapt, without really knowing what is coming next.
Expecting to support ourselves through regular events has often been difficult as lifestyle habits have changed, costs have increased and venues have closed.
Bringing people together and championing collaboration feels like a losing battle at times as we’ve seen the knock on effect of increased isolation and individualism.
At times it feels like a weird social experiment. Working with a range of people is a buzz, but naturally has its challenges. We’re required to navigate a whole host of social dynamics - ever changing relationship statuses, anxiety levels - and lots more that is necessary to maintain a sense of balance across several generations of the Glasgow music and art scene. It requires being patient as the world speeds up around us.
Despite the challenges, we’ve found great meaning in this journey and the same reasons for complaining also fuel our determination and stubbornness to persevere. Real life connections are vastly better and something to strive for. Radio is also a great way to resist a rising fear of failure and perfectionism. We’ve seen countless collabs, club nights, records and gigs start up and we hope to see many more!
At this point, we can’t afford to keep going but we can’t afford to stop. Please consider supporting if you can. Creative Scotland have approved our application to match each donation to help us hit our target and continue our efforts. Link above 😘
