Three things anyone new into the tv and film industry should take note of!

I wish I’d known some of these when I started many, many years ago! The landscape of the industry might have changed a little but some things are always the same!

1 - you need to work you way up. A degree or masters doesn’t give you any more professional level credits than someone who’s done an a-level or BTEC so you need to start at the bottom, grow your industry knowledge and prove your passion and commitment. Runner and researchers jobs are how most of us started.

2 - NETWORKING! Start with the people on your course, grow it out to everyone you meet in the industry. Ask how they got there, what they’d advise, keep in touch. They’re there to signpost future jobs as well as being there if you have questions while you’re in work - you’ll eventually be there for the next person in line too!

3 - CV drops! If you’re sending CVs out to perspective employers then make sure you FOLLOW UP! Sending an updated CV and a cover note/email every 4 or 5 weeks about what you’ve been up to and how you’re still interested in whatever opportunities are available shows you’re interested, committed, passionate and tenacious!

The final dates will be finalised very soon but for now if you're interested you can Register you Interest! The sessions will be delivered in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol and Cardiff with a combination of online and in-person sessions so you get all that learning goodness!! They'll run between October 2026 and March 2027.
