Laphroaig Càirdeas Lore CS, 59.6% abv

It's a marriage of five casks, this time cask strength and it sure hits you different. It's powerful and intense 💪with notes that reminds me of many Finnish flavours. 😅 Yes we tend to like weird stuff, our sweets ain't sweet. 🖤🙃

👃Peat smoke coming strong, cranberries, sweet liquorice, burnt caramel, burnt lemon, petrichor, rieska (barley flat bread)

👅 Tar salty liquorice (tar devils salmiakki in Finland), warming spices like ginger, black pepper, touch of red chilli, cinnamon, hazelnut with chocolate

🏁 Epsom salt, medicinal, ashy

Have you tried it? 🤔

On the Sauce Again

I take a largely female perspective as I look at all things drink related from around the globe. My blog covers any tipple from gin to whisky to sherry, tips on how throw a party and where to drink and what to drink on various destinations.

I believe we should understand each spirit the way some people understand wine, to learn the best ways to drink it, to indulge the smells, the colours and the flavours of the products. There isn’t enough information available about spirits, and often people are somewhat afraid of the firewater. They do not know how to drink it or what to look for when buying a bottle of gin, for example.

I am fascinated by all the amazing backstories of various distilleries. I like to travel to the source as this gives a better understanding of the product, especially when you get to listen to the people who dedicate their lives to producing these amazing liquors. I’m always on a look-out for new quality spirits and I am crazy about glassware!
