On this day in 2022, The Woman King went on general release in US cinemas. Terence Blanchard's beautiful soundtrack for this award winning film was recorded by SDA in Scotland's Studio in the heart of Glasgow.

This is excellent news for Scottish education and the film sector in Scotland. Its thought to be the first time any country has introduced film studies across every level of formal education for under-18s.

For the first time pupils across Scotland, from age 3 to 18, will have the opportunity to study Film and Screen as a practical arts subject.

We are absolutely delighted to have won the Arts & Culture Award at the Inspiring City Awards 2025 for our world-class recording studio! A huge thank you to the judges and organisers as well as to all our funders and supporters at the RSNO who make our work possible including Scottish Enterprise who generously supported the recent state-of-the-art redesign of the studio’s two control rooms.

Our recording studio and brilliant studio team have put Glasgow on the map as a global competitor of commercial orchestral recordings for film, TV and video games, attracting producers from Hollywood to China, and it is an honour to be recognised for this contribution to the city. We can’t wait to see where the future takes us!
