Submit your visual art!

Hedera Felix accepts visual art submissions for Mycelia Magazine. We want to fill Issue 5 with varied content that evokes the weird and eerie from all edges of the drinking hole.

Do you have photography of your paintings, drawings, sculpture or installations? Or documentation of you performances? Or photography alone that is part of a series or a standalone piece? Or something purely digital? Or even visual art in the form of text art? All types of visual art are taken into consideration.

So if your visual art fits the weird and eerie theme please send us what you have got. Our Google Form will take you through the submissions process so you don't miss anything out. To access the form follow the links in our bio. The links also provide guidance on what format to submit in for Mycelia 5. Submit by 11.59pm (GMT) on Sunday 1 May 2022.

Apply to our Editorial Mentorship

We are running the editorial mentorship for its second term in Mycelia Issue 5. If you are interested please visit this link: https://hederafelix.com/submissions/

The editorial mentorship is an opportunity for new artists and writers to apply for extra support during the process of getting published in Mycelia magazine. Great for individuals who are new to writing or who are thinking about new ways of writing.

Developmental editing: this will mean working more closely with the Hedera Felix team. You will be given the opportunity to discuss your ideas and the direction of your writing, to either firm up a piece you have already written, or to work on something from scratch.

Knowledge sharing: this means that you get some of our expertise to take forward as you plan other ways to get published in the future. What to look out for, what to expect, and how to structure your uniqueness for traditional publishing and e-publishing.

We are providing one mentorship place for Issue 5 of Mycelia. Richard, our Art Editor, will be the mentor. We will accept who we feel will benefit the most from working with us.

TONIGHT!

We can't wait to get started on Zoom later on, for 'Walking with Moonwort'. There is still time for you to register for you free ticket at https://walkingwithmoonwort-mycelia-issue4-launch-part2.eventbrite.com

We are starting at 7pm (BST) and here is the running order, plus what to expect.

Mauricio Montiel Figueiras (Mexico) will read excerpts from his Twitter poem 'The Woman of M', which we published in Issue 4. Also, he will be in discussion with HF's Simone Hutchinson on narrative projects developed through Twitter and the formation of female as well as male hemispheres.

Ignacio Evangelista (Spain) will talk about his ongoing 'VOR: Before The Satellite' photo series, which HF featured in Issue 4. Furthermore, he will provide a special preview of his new Photobook dummy" and talk a little about how he works with different publishers.

Klara Kofen (Scotland/UK), with live synth/piano accompaniment from James Oldham, will perform 'The Cozey Spot': a theory, developed through a reading group on the history of science and money, which looks to temporarily suspend organisational hierarchies.

Stephen O’Donnell (Ireland) will be reading live from texts by authors that have, and continue to, inspire his writing process. We will also hear from HF's Richard Taylor who will be reading excerpts from Stephen's story 'Heralds of the Dust' (published in Issue 4).

Anne Schoonover (The U.S) will introduce 'Poem From The Coming Heat', which HF published in Issue 4. Furthermore, all are invited to discuss how the poem was workshopped and written, followed by how the poem's narrator takes on its own entity through interpretation.
