Residents shouldn’t have to dash through heavy traffic just to cross the road.

Up to seven new pedestrian crossings are planned around Thornwood roundabout, where schoolchildren have reported avoiding the area altogether.

The first is now in place on Dumbarton Road near Arnold Clark, following campaigning by local community councils and councillor Lana Reid-McConnell. More are planned for Castlebank Street and near the Thornwood Bar.

For people with prams or wheelchairs, the councillor says navigating the roundabout is simply “not feasible”.

A long-awaited improvement for a community cut off by busy roads — even when trying to reach Victoria Park.

🏘️ 100 residents turn out to fight Woodlands student flats plan

A pool hall, gym and studios could be lost under plans for a 300-room student block on St George’s Road.

Around 100 people packed a public meeting to defend the Q Club, PureGym and St George’s Studios — with students joining residents in speaking out.

“We are a strong community and we don’t want it demolished. We are putting up a fight.”

The developer says the scheme would improve housing choice for students.

Do you use these businesses? What would losing them mean to you?

🗑️ Almost 7,000 reports about Glasgow’s bin hubs in just over two years — and 2,695 came from Pollokshields.

Figures obtained by The Splash Glasgow through Freedom of Information show that two hubs on Keir Street alone generated 490 reports. Four of the five most reported hubs in the city are in Pollokshields.

I’ve looked at which streets feature most often and spoken to councillors and cleansing workers about what’s going wrong.

How is the bin hub on your street working? Tell me where it is and whether you’ve seen overflowing bins, dumped rubbish or an improvement in recycling.
