This week we were honoured to be joined by Mark Sommerville, founder of the Mark Somerville Foundation and the foundation’s chairman, John.

Mark spoke openly about his personal journey since being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2023, and shared his motives for setting up the Mark Sommerville foundation — which has grown from strength to strength.

Mark shared that while MND currently has no cure the NHS offer a treatment plan which helps to manage symptoms.

Mark also spoke about his recent visit to the UK Parliament, where he met with the Prime Minister to urge increased funding for MND research and clinical trials — a call made even more urgent by the growing number of people living with MND across the UK.

Mark and John highlighted how people can support the foundations goal by reaching out to their local elected members and request that they raise the case for research and clinical trials for MND at both the Scottish and UK Government.

This week, we had the pleasure of chatting with Jan from the ‘Meet & 2 Veg’ project - a fantastic community project based at Cambuslang Parish Church ⛪️and Flenington Hallside Parrish Church ⛪️

Jan shared the inspiring story behind how the project began — with the simple but powerful goal of stopping good food from going into landfill and instead making it available for everyone in our community. 🥕🥦 🍎🍊🍞

📍 Cambuslang Parish Church – Monday & Wednesday 9:15 -10pm
📍 Flemington Hallside Parish Church (Halfway) – Thursday 9-10pm.
