Emmaus Glasgow is a charity providing a home, support, training and work opportunities for people with experience of homelessness.

We have charity shops in Partick and at our home in Hamiltonhill. Emmaus in Glasgow opened in 2006 and operates a residential community for 29 formerly homeless men and women, known as companions. We fund our community through a reuse business with two retail charity shops in Partick and Hamiltonhill, along with a warehouse in Glasgow. We work closely with other organisations in the area to suppor

t those people who are homeless or trapped by poverty and to help them to develop skills and self-respect through working and contributing. As well as working for the community social enterprises, companions are supported in whatever way they need to address the issues that have brought them into Emmaus, and encouraged to look outside themselves, working in projects to help others in the neighbourhood, and much further afield. Our companions have been involved locally with Get Hooked on Fishing, volunteering at the soup run, distributing The Pavement Magazine, as well as helping support other local charities in Glasgow. Also through our links with the Emmaus International Movement, in projects in Benin, West Africa and Bosnia.

👋 Would you like to spend a few hours each week volunteering with our friendly van team?

You'll meet people who are part of our homelessness charity and see the sights of our beautiful city while supporting others.

We're looking for people who are comfortable collecting and delivering large items to and from our charity shops. A full induction, training and expenses are available on the days you would like to volunteer - and you'll receive support throughout your volunteer experience.

A huge shout out to our soup kitchen volunteers!

People who are part of our homelessness charity - companions, trustees, staff and other volunteers join student helpers from the University of Glasgow in donating their time every Wednesday and every other Sunday to help people in Glasgow with food and other essentials.

Our soup kitchen team collects food throughout the week from our partners to make this service possible. We pack everything up at our Emmaus Glasgow community home and transport the hot and cold food, alongside our tables and other items to the city centre.

At Cadogan Street in Glasgow, we provide food, other essential items and have a friendly chat with people who are in need of warmth and meals. Huge thanks to Member of Scottish Parliament Annie Wells MSP who came to visit our home from homelessness and charity shop in Hamiltonhill.

The MSP met Val, Craig and Michael and Chief Executive Officer Richard Allwood on a tour of our accommodation and social enterprise.

Emmaus Glasgow provides a stable home and support for up to 27 individuals with experience of homelessness. The charity also runs regular soup kitchens in the city and provides food for parents and carers at local schools.

Applauding everyone involved with the charity’s food services, Annie Wells said: “Emmaus Glasgow does incredible work helping people to rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness. It was inspiring to see first-hand how they provide not only a safe, dry place to live, but also the support, community and opportunities that give people the confidence to move forward.”

Annie bought a bird house made from upcycled wood by one of our Emmaus companions on a tour of our charity shop items and remanufactured paint made from household and business excess.

Lots new stock in our Partick shop 572 Dumbarton road, G11 6RH. Open mon to sat 9-4. We are also doing a wee refresh of the front of the shop. We also stock tons of quality paint at great prices and usually can have extra paint dripped off at the shop next day from our Hamiltonhill Paint superstore

We sell items in our charity shops in Hamiltonhill and Partick to help raise the vital funding needed for our home from homelessness in Glasgow.

What we can't pass on, we recycle thanks to our partnership with local timber, metal and paper yards.
