When someone takes my work without permission or licence, looking into the business and the person posting it is always interesting. It's December, it's a quiet time, so let's see what we can find....
My image was taken from a post by the yacht's owner. Then, it was uploaded by Julia Larson (tut tut, that's against Meta's Terms and conditions - only post images you have the rights and permission to post).
A quick look at Julia's profile shows that all she posts are yachting photographs taken by other photographers. Julia, a sailing instructor living in New York, posted my work on Sailing Rose, a page that publishes work of other photographers, often without permission or credit. Must be a coincidence....
We also have Wendy. Wendy didn't re publish my work, you see Wendy is a "digital creator". Like Julia, Wendy lives in the US, Saracruse, apparently. Also, like Julia, Wendy posts nothing but the work of other photographers on her Facebook profile and on Sailing Rose; perhaps 'digital copier' could be a better job description for Wendy.
Of course, a page cannot be held responsible for the content users like Wendy and Julia post on there.
But Julia and Wendy are both the admins of the Sailing Rose page, and both Julia's and Wendy's accounts are owned and operated from Bangladesh.
This begs the question, do Julia and Wendy actually exist?
I guess we'll let the good folk of Facebook work that out
