"It will buff out," says one online commentator of an incident involving what's widely regarded as the second hull of the Wallyrocket51 - down on its side in a boatyard, the mast turned to 'spaghetti'. The accident happened at Cantiere Rossini in Pesaro. Though some commentators are questioning the viability of the image (shared online by Ocean Racing), blaming AI and asking why the mast is so long, the spreaders are missing and the lack of damage on the port stern for an approximately six metre fall, others are deducing that the incident occurred after a storm....

"Safety on commercial RIB operations is a persistent issue that the industry can do more to address," says Andrew Moll, chief inspector of marine accidents for MAIB (Marine Accident Investigation Branch). His words come as a passenger's serious injury - permanent paralysis - and the accident in Ilfracombe Harbour is detailed in MAIB's latest report. And because of the findings, Moll's urging all operators to take action....

A new line of mounting accessories specifically designed for the Starlink Performance Gen 3 antenna has been launched by Seaview. The accessories --- including a smart adapter plate (pictured above) and the wedge base --- are said to provide a significantly smaller, marinised footprint for existing and new installations. This is a bonus when space it tight onboard. "Seaview has always been at the forefront of marine mounting solutions, and our commitment to our customers means continuously evolving with the latest technology," says Jason Romesburg, president of the company which has been busy designing and manufacturing mounting systems for marine electronics, satellite communication systems, and mobile technologies for about twenty years....

Boats Group, the Miami-based owner of Boat Trader, YachtWorld and boats.com, is facing a federal class action lawsuit accusing it of monopolising the market for online boat listings and marketing services in the United States. The complaint, filed in the Southern District of Florida by Brill Maritime Inc, which does business as Export Yacht Sales, alleges that Boats Group has “willfully acquired, maintained and expanded monopoly power in this market by engaging in exclusionary and anticompetitive conduct, including the serial acquisitions of its main competitors, unilateral price increases, restrictive contractual terms, and practices that hinder entry and expansion by rival platforms.”...

Registrations have risen, with nearly 3,000 more boats recorded in the past year, while the used boat market has grown by 11 per cent compared with 2024. UK-based marine services company Briggs Marine has been appointed as a key subcontractor to Serco following the award of the Royal Navy’s Maritime Services contracts, continuing a partnership that has spanned more than 17 years.
