Certainly recommend checking out this new Head Gardener album on band camp, it's a lovely retro infused journey through reggae, dub, rocksteady vibes and funk!

Been a while, busy summer less focused on studio projects with more time spent running sound in various fields and becoming a lecturer in music production and studio engineering 🤓
A few banging releases that have slipped by and not been shouted about nearly enough in the last coupla months! And none of them reggae, all modern sounds.
released their blistering EP, love working with these dudes and it's fun getting to mix something mega heavy and stretch the ole sonic legs.

with her massive single 'Glow', after running a remix competition for this single with which saw some damn fine versions and mixes, it was both an honour and slightly humbling to mix the main single for this release, along with engineering vocal recording duties. Lianne is a serious talent with crazy versatility, it's always such a joy to work with her.
am.afiya and her band returned to the studio to track and mix a classic indie infused single which turned into a right summer banger, another super versatile artist and really enjoyed the different approach to this record.

Alongside the constant stream of reggae vinyl releases and work with the likes of , , there's plenty of nice new stuff in the works. New music coming from myself, , .askew and to name a few. Bring on a musical, cosy winter :)

Our Story

Mikey Shaw is an Engineer and Producer with a long history entrenched in the local Norwich music scene. After years of running small mix rooms and studios in the area, he teamed up with like minded Engineer - Jason Baldock of Old School Studios to create and share a space.. A cool as hell military bunker to be precise! - The Crunch studio. The studio comprises of a hybrid set up of vintage analogue recording gear, beautiful old and modern microphones, handmade 'one offs', and high quality converters set within a digital interface/multitracking system. Whilst Mikey's specialty is reggae and dub, there is no limit to the studio's applications in terms of genre! The vintage warmth and beefiness of valve and tape based recording/mixing equipment lends itself to just about all forms of music. And if you just want clean and sparkly... Well, that's fine too!
