Harbour Radio

Harbour Radio Harbour Radio is a not for profit radio station for Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas.

Harbour Radio is a “NOT FOR PROFIT” Community Radio Station and our aim is to encourage social gain within the area. In addition to entertaining and informing, the intention is to reflect the interests and needs of our audience. To that end diversity, cultural programming and a blend of local interest talk and music – much of the latter directly requested by our listenership – is all very much a p

art of the plan. As a ‘community radio station’ and 100% voluntary project our aim is not to “talk at” the listener but to create direct links with our listeners thereby becoming an integral part of the local community. Finally, as a ‘social enterprise’, part of our remit is also to offer training and support to local people interested in acquiring new skills and the knowledge associated with the setup and future running of a radio station. Feedback from our first Restricted Service Licence (RSL) broadcast in January 2014 has shown that listeners appreciate the unique nature of the service, our local content and presenters (and their individual, occasionally quirky, personalities!), the banter between presenters, the wide – unpredictable – variety of music and the fact that we are approachable and not commercially playlist driven.

After interviewing Neal X for the Many Selves what's the alternative? Show on Harbour Radio earlier in the week it was great to meet up with Neal in person again.we also were lucky enough to meet Slim Jim Phantom and Phil polecat too.

STARCAT by name & these three cats gave a stellar performance from the very first note to the last.the Crowd was rocking and rolling, feasting on a banquet of bangers.
Songs from the Stray cats, the Polecats & Sigue Sigue Sputnik!!!
Plus a magnificent multitude of well chosen rockabilly tunes.
I especially loved how T.Rex's Jeepster was seamlessly sandwiched in the middle of That's alright Mama.
Then to get a shout out from Neal topped the night off .
The encore was a rendition of the Mud Classic Tiger feet which Starcat has released on Ltd edition 7" vinyl & I was lucky enough to have the honour of playing it first On the Radio (global exclusive premiere!)
They've added a ROARer ( excuse the pun) sound to the 70's hit .
This was truly one of the most fun nights we've had,if you get a chance to catch them on this tour all I can say is go cats go,go ,go .

It was great to meet up with friends and to make so many new ones too.
To meet Neal ,Phil and Jim was a pleasure and a privilege, three genuinely nice guys who love what they do and Oh Boy does it shine through on stage (& off).

Thank you also to the staff and security at The Waterfront who were very patient and helpful with my health issues needs .

After this week's short interview with Neal there will be a fuller interview on Thursday 28th August 8.00 pm 107.4 FM or ask your smart speaker for Harbour Radio.
