FilmChain, through our co-founder Maria Tanjala, had the privilege of speaking at the International Film Distribution Summit in Cologne, where we gained valuable insights from sessions on audience engagement, innovative ways for rural communities to enjoy great cinema, and purposeful distribution strategies. The European Audiovisual Observatory - Observatoire européen de l'audiovisuel has released an eye-opening report on female professionals in the European film industry. Despite progress, the proportion of women in key roles — directors, screenwriters, producers, cinematographers, and composers — has only increased by 5% since 2015.
It's crucial to keep pushing for gender parity in film! 🎬

The news is out! Our co-founder Maria Tanjala, joined by Sheila Fraser Milne (founder and CEO of leading UK completion guarantor company Paterson James) and Lee Stone (partner at London-based law firm and film specialist Lee & Thompson LLP), will be speakers at the upcoming Screen International's ’The Future of UK Film’ Summit.

The session is called “Ask The Experts: Optimising The Value Of Your Production” and will take place on September 24th. Delegates will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance, so be sure not to miss out!

What a remarkable experience at Festival de Cannes 2024! It was a dynamic and exhilarating series of events, marking this year our most successful to date.

Here’s a quick recap:

🍸 The effort of bringing together tech pioneers at the heart of the industry in CONNECT - The Entertainment Tech Hub was a smashing success! We had an oversubscribed cocktail reception and the Pavillion organised some great pitching events.

🎞 We presented our next-generation CAM to producers, sales agents, and financiers, at our branded exhibition space in the Palais Riviera. We are thrilled about the films we signed with our partners and ready to facilitate real-time payments to all the beneficiaries!

🤝 We mentored at Young Nordic Producers Club the new generation of the finest Nordic producers.

We were thrilled to have an exhibition space within the iconic Palais des Festivals at this year's Festival de Cannes, in partnership with CONNECT - The Entertainment Tech Hub. We hosted insightful meetings, connected with new and old friends, and celebrated with a fantastic cocktail party! 🍸

Highlights of our time in the Palais included attending inspiring talks by our amazing partners and showcasing our latest innovations in revenue collection for the film, TV and gaming space. The energy and creativity at Cannes were truly unmatched.
