As Oasis take the stage for their first gig in Manchester today, it feels like the perfect time to reshare this portrait of Liam Gallagher that I painted a few years ago for his music video “The River”. The project was deeply rooted in Manchester’s cultural landscape, with the video showcasing iconic local landmarks that hold personal meaning for Liam. My portrait became part of this visual tribute to the city—serving not only as a striking centrepiece, but also as a reflection of Manchester’s gritty, rebellious spirit. It was an honour to contribute to something that celebrates both Liam’s legacy and the enduring identity of the city that shaped him. The mural was painted on the legendary Roadhouse, one of Manchester’s most iconic music venues and a cornerstone of the city’s rich musical heritage. Link to “The River” video in my bio. This June SICK! are working in collaboration with High Rise and are calling on Greater Manchester Mc’s for Lil. Miss. Lady: The After Party - a live show case of emerging talent at The Lowry, happening after the premiere of their acclaimed immersive grime rave.

Do you want the chance to be billed alongside the award winning rapper and writer Lady Lykez, Rinse FM and BBC 1 Xtra’s DJ Kaylee Kay, and a special announced headliner.

We are looking for female identifying artists working within Uk rap music genres, including but not limited to: Grime, Hip Hop & Drill,

Selected artists will also receive:

£200 stipend plus £50 travel expenses
A free ticket to Lil.Miss, Lady performance
A performance masterclass with High Rise Entertainement

You must be:
- 18 - 30
- Female identifying
- Based in Greater Manchester

📣 Women In Revolt! Art and Activism in the UK 1970 - 1990
🎉 Opens Friday 7 March 2025
✨For the first time, the landmark exhibition is presented to audiences for FREE

This Whitworth Special Exhibition features over 90 women artists and collectives whose ideas were forged against the backdrop of seismic social, political and economic change over two decades.

Women in Revolt! explores six key themes, spanning two decades of art and activism. These include maternal and domestic experiences, anti-racist and LGBTQ+ activism, Greenham Common and the peace movement, and punk and independent music.

The exhibition is organised by Tate Britain in collaboration with the Whitworth, The University of Manchester and National Galleries of Scotland.

A pensioner in Chorlton has been flooded with kind messages after sending a heartwarmingly honest letter to his neighbours.⁠
⁠
David, 75, says he’s been ‘very much missing’ canine company after moving into no-pets-allowed rented accommodation, saying he and his late wife always had rescue dogs until she passed away. ⁠

And since he bravely posted letters to all his neighbours, he’s got himself loads of new furry friends already. ⁠
⁠
Now this is the sort of neighbourhood news that’ll get you feeling all warm and fuzzy on a Monday. 🥹⁠
