I’VE LOST MY PATIENCE.

Beacon Academy have decided that phones are to be banned in school. Not a bad decision at all, except that the only reason they’ve decided this is to hide their incompetence.

A child from another school managed to get into Beacon and attack a student last week and rather than take any responsibility for lapses of security they are blaming the people they are duty bound to care for, the kids.

And here’s the kicker, punishment for being caught on your phone is a 2 day suspension.

Thats right, the EXACT same length of punishment given to a boy who decided to randomly call my daughter a “Fu**ing N***er” during class time, no fear.

The same lad is currently on another suspension after pushing another student over which has resulted in the child having to have surgery. The punishment?…2 day suspension.

So at Beacon Academy, being on your phone and racial/physical abuse are an equal action? They are out of their depth and refuse to accept any responsibility at all costs.

In the month since the latest racist incident the school have done nothing outside of a 48 hour suspension. They haven’t spoken to me since, there’s been no assembly to reiterate their “zero tolerance policy” and they haven’t checked in with Halle to see if things have improved.

The schools inaction is directly responsible for my son having a difficult GCSE period. Having to uproot him and place him in the one school that had placements on the other side of town just so he could sit his GCSEs.

I will not put my daughter through the same, so I’m determined to make sure they honor their contract of care. I’m currently putting together an article that will document mine and other parent’s experiences within this school.

If you or someone you know have had similar issues at Beacon Academy please get in touch so your story can be included. My son and daughter have been subjected to ignorance and flat out racist behaviour for too long.

Enough is enough.

This town got talent.

I had the huge pleasure of talking with the youth students last night.

invited me along to talk about self tapes. How to give your best performance and how they are received by casting professionals.

We talked about standing out, taking risks and finding the “you” within the character. They were such a receptive group and I hope to see them in many future productions.

“I’m Still Here” is a narrative based film that will bring attention to some of the complex behaviours within abusive relationships.

We need financial support to be able to produce this film to a high, broadcast quality standard that will stand up alongside anything you might watch on your favourite streaming service.

Shot locally with a with local cast and crew, this film will also highlight just how much talent we have here up T’North.

Needed for upcoming short film shoot.

After a long and vigorous process, we are incredibly excited to finally announce our principal cast members for

Jenny Morton

West Yorkshire actress Jenny plays our lead character Emily. Jenny graduated from the University of Lincoln in Drama/Acting in 2020 and has since had various roles in local theatre productions. ‘I’m Still Here” will mark Jenny’s first lead role on screen.

George Martin

Hull based performer George plays our lead male character Simon. George has recently come off a Theatre tour with one man show “Better Days” which had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has also had a number of appearances on national TV shows, including ITV’s Coronation Street.

Heather Limbrick

Heather plays the lead characters best friend Jo. Heather is a trained dancer and as such was cast as a dancer in Channel 5’s “All Creatures Great and Small” which earned her a call back for a speaking part in a future episode. Heather attends both and

Charlotte Mayes

Charlotte plays “friend to everyone” Leah. Based in Grimsby, Charlotte has performed in a variety of mediums such as stage, screen and immersive theatre, notably playing Jennifer Parker in CineShow UK’s Immersive “Back to the Future” screening. Charlotte attends Grimsby.

Katie Dulson

Katie plays Sienna, Emily’s friend and Simons ex girlfriend. Katie, from Beverley, has starred in various short films and stage productions playing leads in “The Likes of Us” and “Scrooge: A Christmas Carol”. Katie attends

Pippa Taylor

Pippa plays Mya, Sienna’s closest friend. Hailing from Scunthorpe, Pippa has performed in a number of theatre productions with notably “The story of Snow and other true tales according to R**t Petite” which was shown at the Edinburgh Fringe. Pippa attends Scunthorpe.

Shooting begins mid-January with a potential April release date.
