On this week's Nature StoryTeller podcast, we share the classic nature-based story "The Sunken Palace." In a village nestled between towering mountains and vast, whispering forests called Eldergrove, life thrived along the banks of a river that meandered through the land, carrying rich stories passed down through generations.

One fateful day, an unusual drought struck Eldergrove. The once-bustling river dwindled to a mere trickle, and the lush greenery surrounding the village began to wither. Desperate for water and hope, the villagers gathered in the town square to seek guidance from the village elder, a wise woman known for her deep connection to nature.

In early February, as winter began to thaw and whispers of spring danced in the air, the annual celebration of National Storytelling Week took on a mesmerising hue in 2026. The Nature StoryTeller, known for weaving magical tales from the fabric of nature and folklore, took centre stage across the enchanting landscapes of the South West.

For three captivating nights, audiences gathered beneath the twinkling stars, seated around flickering campfires, each person eagerly anticipating the retelling of an age-old tale. This year, the spotlight shone brightly on a reimagined version of the Imbolc Story, beautifully inspired by Catriona McDonald's evocative narrative. With each word, the Nature StoryTeller breathed life into the characters and setting, transporting listeners into a world where the boundaries between reality and imagination melted away.

For those who wished to carry the enchantment beyond the firelight, the Nature StoryTeller's podcast rolled out like an open invitation—a treasure trove of stories waiting to be discovered.
