🚢 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐂𝐔𝐒: 𝐕𝐈𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐒
Cruising, but with a very 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲…
Today I’m putting the spotlight on Virgin Voyages, because this is a cruise line I think people sometimes misunderstand.
Virgin isn’t trying to be everything to everyone.
It’s adults-only, premium cruising, designed for people who want the freedom and variety of a cruise, but perhaps don’t want the traditional cruise experience.
Think, great food, stylish spaces, late nights, brilliant entertainment and a much more relaxed approach to cruising.
🛥️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬
One of the things that immediately stands out is the design of the ships.
Virgin moved away from the traditional idea of what a cruise ship should look like and created something much more 𝐲𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐭-𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞-𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠.
There are lots of smaller spaces rather than everything feeling like one enormous atrium. You’ll find intimate bars, restaurants, lounges, outdoor spaces and little corners where you can sit with a drink and watch the ocean.
It feels modern without being overly formal.
👥 So who actually chooses Virgin?
This is probably the most interesting part.
Virgin tends to attract people who:
❤️ Want an adults-only environment
🍽️ Put a big emphasis on food and restaurants
🍸 Like good bars, cocktails and social spaces
🎶 Enjoy entertainment, live music and a bit of nightlife
🌍 Want to explore multiple destinations without unpacking every few days
🧘♀️ Like having wellness, fitness and relaxation options
👗 Enjoy dressing up when they fancy it, but don’t want formal cruise rules
👫 Travel as couples, friends, solo travellers and groups of adults
And contrary to what some may think, you don’t have to be a party animal to enjoy Virgin.
There are plenty of places to sit quietly, relax, read a book, enjoy the sea views or simply have a long lunch.
It really is about choice.
🌊 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬…
Virgin has more Sea Terrace cabins than Inside cabins, which tells you quite a lot about the way the brand has approached the cruise experience.
The balcony isn’t treated as some distant luxury reserved for the higher end of the ship.
The Sea Terrace gives you your own outdoor space and, of course, that famous Virgin red hammock.
And let’s be honest, a hammock overlooking the Mediterranean isn’t a bad place to spend an hour or two. 😉
🍽️ Food is another huge part of the Virgin experience
There isn’t the traditional “main dining room every night” setup.
Instead, Virgin has a collection of outstanding restaurants and eateries, giving you much more choice over where and when you eat.
No assigned dining table.
No fixed dining time.
You can make dinner part of your evening rather than feeling like dinner is dictating your evening.
🌍 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨?
Virgin has a fantastic mix of itineraries, including:
🇬🇷 Greece & the Greek Islands
🇮🇹 Italy & the Mediterranean
🇫🇷 France, Spain & the Med
🇭🇷 Croatia & Adriatic ports
🏝️ Caribbean sailings
🇧🇸 The Bahamas & Bimini
And there are longer itineraries too, for those who want more than a week away.
💡 𝐀 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬… 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤
✨ Look beyond the headline price. A lot is already included, so compare the overall cruise experience rather than simply comparing the starting fare.
✨ Don’t assume you need to be young to enjoy Virgin. The brand is adult-focused rather than age-focused. It’s about the type of holiday you enjoy.
✨ Think about your cabin carefully. The Sea Terrace is one of the things that makes Virgin particularly appealing.
✨ Don’t fill every minute. Virgin is very good at creating spaces where you can simply sit, drink, eat, listen to music and watch the world go by.
✨ And don’t expect traditional cruising. That’s probably the biggest tip of all!
Virgin Voyages has its own personality.
It sits somewhere between cruise holiday, boutique hotel, adults-only resort and a little slice of yacht life.
And I think that’s why it attracts such a loyal following.
It’s not necessarily about being better than every other cruise line.
It’s about being different.
And for the right traveller, that’s exactly the point. ❤️🚢
