Snake catcher warns of Ibiza lizard extinction due to predators and litter
Conservationists in Ibiza are warning the island's native bright blue and green lizards are coming ever closer to extinction due to the mounting threats of invasive snakes and tourists' litter.
The Ibiza wall lizard is endemic to the island and vital to the ecosystem, experts say, for pollinating plants and controlling pests. But the species has become endangered in recent years following the introduction of snakes in the early 2000s - and now litter left in beauty spots.
