What’s your colour today?

Just a quick note that we stock all the wool breeds and Jacquard dye pots so you can select the right colour and texture or even the relevant breed to your project and make it perfect!

Going with a texture or colour that is slightly out seriously limits the look but if you know what you want or if you are looking for inspiration here are some links for you

OK folks here’s a mission statement, a pitch an update set to get this thing going and when you read this you’ll be able to really absorb what I’m trying to do here!! Ask public about wool and they’ll blurt out wool jumper or socks but unlikely to be able to name a true British producer or they’ll come out with misinformation! This needs to change 😊. This is the last section to crack before all the dots are joined!

* TWO Facebook groups - Great British Knitwear (U.K. only and commercially marketed REAL U.K. knitwear using sheep’s wool and natural fibre can be machine or handmade but you get me on the marketing angle).
Also Knitting and Crochet Natural Yarnwork for Sale (Global, more open and crafty just needs to be made with REAL yarn from sheep’s wool and natural fibre)

Links in the comments to the two groups. Please Join, tell your friends, tag and suggest etc! Let businesses know they can advertise on there! It’s free! I want to just let these two groups connect the whole lot together. It will take time to do but as you know I’ve never been afraid of that.

* I’m personally making a yarnwork art piece using knitting and crochet techniques to tell a big story story for originality, original content because I can’t truly promote what I’m trying to promote using other people’s work. Also AI šŸ¤– doesn’t have a look in 🤣 so here we go from the beginning to inspire lots of people to do their own masterpiece

* After this I’m going to knit something that I really want to wear both in the feel and the look alone. I think I’ll be able to showcase so much with it

* Each week we showcase what you are making and your favourite knitwear brands too on this page so we can all lift this up! It’s got huge potential and I can in time get the whole lot out to public! I can share the knitwear brands, the breeds which go into the garments, the crafters and the audiences who will watch and want to end up knitting/crocheting with real U.K. wool for the first time

It’s the last section to crack and it’s a very important one too.

A brilliant trip yesterday to Middleham, North Yorkshire on Sensational Sunday! Here’s a bit about it! It’s known as middle village in the Domesday Book!

The Castle was one of the largest built in the 12h century and became the childhood home of Richard III. It was a stronghold for The Neville family.

In medieval times the monasteries had thousands of sheep grazing and wool was at the time drove the entire country’s economy. Middleham was a major corporate trading hub at the time and was a central point to all the drovers routes.

It’s been a Northern hub for racehorse training for 200 years branded Newmarket if the North!

The surroundings are an untouched time capsule full of stone walls, old buildings, a castle, monuments and bridges!

Lots of lovely pubs and antiques shops!

In today’s times Middleham is still a standpoint for past and present with its heritage and all the things which still exist today which come from this deep heritage such as racehorses, pubs, antiques and there’s definitely room for šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ wool and country wear! It’s a prime tourist spot giving the most beautiful picturesque sights and sporting routes.

What a lovely trip ā˜ŗļø

That means the U.K. yarnwork project is rescheduled for this evening and if I can make one great art piece telling a powerful story and a knitted garment this will complete the whole portfolio able to showcase stronger than ever imagined!

What’s the best thing you have EVER made with U.K. wool?

It’s not easy but the facts are the facts ā¤ļø

If the British story starts on the shelves then it’s not British šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ British producers are working harder than ever in ever more difficult conditions to keep producing. It’s a lot harder than drop shipping!

Great Britain must keep producing and its high time blue collar and even hand made work was once again valued! You cannot get the end part without the start! The start is rough, organic, dirty and not for the faint hearted because it all comes from the soil and you basically begin by birthing and shifting dirt!

From there, things start to get cleaned up and more refined until they are finally ready for the shelves at retail level but during that process there are many other crafters and processors who invest at the level they can take things from and the most important thing is that they invest in British soil because then it is truly British! That is not an anti international trade thing to put! The investment can be and is often made throughout the world and vice versa! It’s there’s something on a personal level I’d like to import I invest in that country’s soil and full people story! If this production and support pattern disappears then it’s goodbye to freedom and hello to a very synthetic big corporate entrapment.

There is I believe a niche that is really breaking away from mainstream purchasing right now because of an issue of looking the same as everyone else and the appreciation of what real bespoke work can achieve

My name is Lucinda Bird and I set up the newest U.K. wool mill not seen in the country for over 6 years and not seen in County Durham since the 80s. Although the majority of operations is at the primary processing stages because that’s what is truly in short supply, I’m onto my final section of spinning and yarnwork to be able to really bridge British heritage story and put ā€œthe lookā€ into our modern world and complete the full vision! I’ve decided that the full portfolio must complete

This is the vision but the whole pull of production has been created by all of you people as individuals!

Let’s do this x
