Passion.

This post won't be as in depth as my normal posts as the point is short and sweet. When you have a passion for something you invest a lot of time and effort into it with no other motive other than you love doing it. My only other motive with fishing is to share that love and passion with anyone that wants to know. A day on the bank can work wonders for the mind, body and soul. There's no better feeling than looking down into the net and seeing your hard work paid off and I want to share that feeling with everyone.

Colour Theory.

I was at a carp show listening to one of Rob Hughes talks. He's spent a lot of time diving, observing carp in their natural environment and how they react to certain scenarios, bait ECT. Something he said regarding hookbait colour really interested me and stuck with me. A carp's natural environment is green and directly opposite that colour on the colour wheel is pink. This gives pink a natural and harsh contrast to the natural environment of a carp, making it stand out more and act like a visual indicator for feeding or passing carp. This theory has since been backed up by underwater footage which shows carp honing in on pink hookbaits after a switch of colour had been made. Now, I'm not saying pink is the only colour to catch. What I am saying is, when used in the correct scenarios, this theory has proven itself to me time and time again and given me immense confidence in pink hookbaits, in particular the Ripple Wafter.

Potential.

Whilst fishing Wainstones Pool I encountered a flurry of activity towards the end of my weekend session. I worked hard to make sure that I was taking full advantage of this feeding spell and it resulted in multiple fish in the net, including this very cool looking mirror. The carp in this pool are certainly special and each have a level of individuality that makes each capture a pleasure. I honestly can't wait to get back to this venue and see what else there is to offer.

Capitalizing.

During a recent session on Wainstones Pool I found the fish to be actively feeding on one of my spots after seeing a lot of activity and getting a few bites in quick succession. I stayed consistent and methodical with my approach and managed to land several more fish from the same area including this stunning common 'Baby Benson' who couldn't resist the Red Sea Squid and Ripple combo. I've got to say too, the Size 4 Raptor Claws came into their own this session, absolutely nailing every single fish. It's great catching carp but, catching one with a cool little backstory makes it even better for me!

While I was overseeing a charity carp match at Wallys Lakes for Tackling Futures , I was convinced by all the lads to get a cheeky rod out while we were waiting for something to happen. And then something did happen. After 10 minutes the Red Sea Squid, Arctic Crab and Club Tropicana worked their magic. The rod busted off with a screaming take and I landed this beautiful common. This goes to show the right rig with the right bait in the right place can make a difference.
