Really enjoyed my first time at Doddington Lane Pits last weekend. Cracking venue, very well looked after, friendly staff and the Carp are unbelievable! Itching to get back and see what else this place has to offer!

Some more snaps from the weekend. I've got to say, I am absolutely itching to get back out. I said it was my last BIG session of the year...surely I can squeeze a 24hr in? Right?

Made up to get off the mark on my first trip to Doddington. Pit 2 had been on fire all week, producing multiple 30s and a 48lb behemoth of a Mirror. Safe to say we were excited. A brief chat with the bailiff confirmed my research on the lake was correct and after a coin toss to decide on swims, we set our gear up and got the rods out.

The lake was alive. The wind was belting down into our corner. Everything screamed for a bite. But nothing came. A long and quiet night ensued until my left hand rod burst into life at around 4am the next morning. Sleepy eyed, I guided the fish into the net where Michael confirmed "oh, she's a chunk like". The new RG test bait and Red Sea Squid proved far too tempting.

27lb of Doddington Lane Pits Carp And that's all she wrote. Other than another angler catching a 19lber on the Friday, the lake fell dormant. Although the fish seemed to be active and moving, they just would not get their heads down properly. Even though the rest of the session was quiet, this place has cemented itself as a firm favourite moving forward and I can see a lot of time going into this venue in the years to come.

Autumns here. I visited Pit 2 at Doddington at the weekend and the change in seasons was apparent. Everything's turning golden brown and the light from the sunset makes everything glow. Just reminded me how much I love this time of the year on the bank. Plus, a fish in the net at a new venue is a huge bonus!

Summer has been a scorcher. But now you can feel the change coming. The mornings are darker and the nights are getting colder. Leaves are starting to drop and that first proper bit of autumn is creeping into the air.

Honestly, I’m ready for it.

Cold mornings, mist hanging over the lake, alarms going off when you least expect it and hopefully a few proper chunks residing in the net.

Throwback to a mega trip to Coking Farm. After a slow start, a well placed solid bag to the margins produced this beauty. In the dying minutes of the session I ended up with a flurry of bites including a double take, ending the session on a proper high!
