We're delighted to see I Fought the Law receive the best New Drama award at the National Television Awards last night. Voted for by the public 🙌

Congratulations to the production team, cast and crew 👏👏

We loved hosting the production in the North East in 2024 while they filmed the four part drama based on Ann Ming’s book for the Love of Julie. The heart breaking, real-life story of a mother’s love, courage and determination to change the Double Jeopardy Law, and see her daughter’s murderer brought to justice.

In February the production was recognised in the region with three wins at the RTS North East and Border Awards and the show was also nominated for a BAFTA.

Ready to turn your passion for TV and film into a career?

We're delighted to launch Fast Track, a new North East Screen programme designed to support the next generation of TV and film crew.

Created for new entrants and those within the first two years of their screen industry career, Fast Track offers bespoke training, mentoring and employability support to help participants become set-ready and connect with opportunities on regional productions.

Our first intake is now open for:

Congratulations to North East writer-director Mark Chapman and Sunderland-based producer Carley Armstrong of True Moon Pictures as their short film A Woman of Good Abilities makes its Edinburgh International Film Festival debut this week 📽

The contemporary thriller, starring Boiling Point's Vinette Robinson, has been selected for the festival's Competition Shorts programme and is competing for the Thelma Schoonmaker Prize for Short Filmmaking Excellence. It will be screened on 14 and 15 August alongside some of the most exciting emerging filmmaking talent from around the world.
