The Book Orphanage Home of Reading Between The Vines Book Club. At The Book Orphanage in St Leonards on Sea there are lots of rescued books waiting for new readers.

All are free and often find homes on local bookswap shelves or you might find one left as a gift!

Next week This year's The Booker Prize Shortlist is announced and to coincide with this we are going to see if some past books were really worth their nominations!
As there are too many to choose from for just one read I have selected that we self choose one each from one of their own lists ~ 11 Booker-nominated books with the most memorable endings.
Or do they?
I think there is certainly something for everyone and bookworm kudos in advanced to any one who chooses one of the longer reads!
I look forward to hearing your reviews when we meet on Wednesday 21st October at 6pm.

August is Hastings' Pride month and Reading Between the Vines has chosen this month's read to celebrate diversity, acceptance and inclusion.
You have the choice to read either (or both) books this month.
PageBoy by Elliot Page and He's Always Been my Son by Janna Barkin are true life books sharing the lives of two young people on their transgender journey.
We meet again on Wednesday 16th September where we will discuss their stories from 6pm at Barnaby's Lounge.

🤫Tonight's book club was not a silent one!🤫 We definitely listened and heard everyone's thoughts and feelings about our latest read and rated The Silence Project by Carole Hailey ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of a possible 5!
Our reviews included -
'An uncomfortably good read' 'Interesting method of writing' 'A little repetitive' 'Realistic' 'Thought provoking' and many more comments on mother/daughter relationships, cults, power etc.
A book that was definitely worth talking about!
Our next book will be posted tomorrow morning, please do stop by and have a look!

I popped down to Seaview Project yesterday and after topping up their bookshelf I joined their reading group.
Those that attended shared what they were reading. The wealth of knowledge and interesting topics being discussed was so fascinating and immersive I totally forgot to share what I was reading!
I can't wait to go again and find out more bookish tidbits!

Good Evening My fellow Readers. Thank you to all who attended tonight. It was lovely to see you. 😎
Tonight we rated Taste by Stanley Tucci with an average of ⭐⭐⭐ out of a possible 5.
🎧Some of us really enjoyed listening to him on audio whilst others weren't overly impressed. 😒
😋Some of us are real foodies and enjoyed the recipes but not necessarily enough to recreate any. 🧑‍🍳
🏨Most felt that Stanley's Cancer diagnosis, treatments and consequent recovery were well written but not many of us would be overly enthused to recommend 'Taste' to family and friends.🤔
📖Our next read will be posted first thing tomorrow.📖

Popped down to Seaview Project again today to continue restocking their lovely handcrafted bookshelf. I have taken away 2 crates of books to be cleaned, stamped and redistributed again.
I also met the lovely Tracey who runs their own bookclub and I shall make a point of popping in and joining them and having a good chat about what they're reading.

First book drop of the week! Wellington Square Baptist Church houses a community outreach centre every Wednesday morning. These include housing advice, homeless support, clothing bank, substance addiction support and more.
And of course free books!
